As a devoted fan, I must share that Jeremy Renner recently disclosed an intriguing confession: he felt a fleeting anger at being resuscitated following his close brush with death in the snowplow accident—a sentiment that arose when he caught a glimpse of the tranquil serenity he experienced during his brief encounter with what he described as the afterlife.
54-year-old Marvel actor shared details about the distressing event that occurred on New Year’s Day 2023. On this fateful day, he was unfortunately hit by a massive snowcat weighing around 14,000 pounds outside his Lake Tahoe residence, as he valiantly tried to protect his nephew.
In my recently perused memoir, titled My Next Breath, Renner recounts the profound tranquility I experienced during those fleeting instances when I was technically deceased, which I can only describe as an electrifying serenity.
According to his account, the event seemed to have eliminated any fear of death within him and instead instilled a profound tranquility.
Recently, Renner openly disclosed on the Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast with Kelly Ripa that his immediate feeling upon being revived was a sense of letdown.

Renner expressed great relief after his near-death experience, describing it as an indescribable sense of liberation and tranquility, a profound mixture of excitement and serenity that he had never experienced before.”
Or
“Speaking about his near-death experience, Renner could only express relief. He likened the sensation to being released from one’s body, an overwhelmingly pleasant feeling that was unlike anything he had ever felt before – a rush of exhilaration combined with a deep peace that was simply magnificent and magical.
That sense of peace, he revealed, was so powerful that returning to life felt like a letdown.
He mentioned that he didn’t wish to return, stating, “I recalled being forced to return, and I was furious. Upon my return, I sighed in disappointment.
In simpler terms, after his New Year’s Day 2023 snowcat accident, Renner acknowledged that he had briefly disappeared for a short while. However, the brief encounter with what seemed like the afterlife significantly transformed his perspective on life.
In that realm, he explained, there’s no concept of time, portraying the afterlife as a domain where one solely knows without any restraints imposed by human constructs such as language or sequential thinking.
He explained to Kelly, “What you’re going through is a part of being human. You see, time is something we humans have created… This seems quite basic—words, concepts, everything. It’s all about knowledge, experience, comprehension, all happening simultaneously.
Currently, Renner interprets the accident as a clarion call that cut through the clamor, enabling him to discern what holds real importance.
He expressed that returning here, not being a man who initially wanted to return, feels satisfying for him, as he can now navigate his life as the master of his vessel. Moreover, he stated bluntly, ‘I care little whether you stay or go.’

The brush with death also forced him to reevaluate where he places value.
He stated, “I placed such high worth on things of no significance, so I don’t put money in stocks or bonds. I don’t even venture into cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Instead, I invest in love and cherished relationships where I feel love reciprocated. That’s the only thing you carry with you when you go.
Following Renner’s revelation about a small yet profound blunder that led to the harrowing snowplow incident, which nearly took his life, the podcast discusses this event in detail based on his account in his latest memoir.
‘I didn’t engage the parking brake or disengage the steel tracks,’ Renner wrote.
At that crucial instant, a seemingly insignificant yet profound lapse in thought would irrevocably alter the direction of my life.
OR
That pivotal second, filled with innocence and importance, saw a minor mental misstep that would shape my future forever.
In the cabin of his massive snowcat, weighing 14,000 pounds, Renner suddenly realized his nephew was in danger. Without hesitation, he leaped out to try and rescue him.
He couldn’t keep his feet steady on the speeding rails, so he didn’t manage to reach the cabin. Instead, he was thrown forcefully ahead, spinning out of control, as he put it in his writing.
In an instant, I was hurled from the whirling steel rails, limbs thrashing wildly. I soared above the front edge of the tracks, being driven ahead, plummeting onto the frozen ground below. Upon impact, my head struck the ice harshly and immediately split open.

A chilling symphony of grinding noises echoed as 14,000 pounds of galvanized steel machinery relentlessly and uniformly crushed against my body. The cacophony was truly terrifying.
In the incident, Renner endured a total of 38 fractured bones, also sustained a collapsed lung, and his liver was punctured by one of his shattered ribs.
His nephew provided assistance until the emergency services got to the location. Later, Renner was transported by helicopter to a hospital, where he stayed for over two weeks and underwent numerous operations.
Regardless of the challenges, Renner is back at work, currently shooting for Wake Up Dead Man: An Instalment of the Knives Out Series – which happens to be the third part of the Knives Out franchise.
