Emily Atack, known for her bold character Sarah Stratton, looked stunning in a sophisticated cream outfit when she met up with her “The Rivals” co-star Rufus Jones at a promotional event for the show’s second season on Thursday.
The actress, 36, looked stunning in the chic outfit as she posed for new snaps on her Instagram.
Emily also took photos with Rufus, age 50, who stars as her husband, Paul Stratton, in the popular and provocative show that’s coming back for another season.
The blonde actress wrote in the caption of her social media post that she was wearing a Rebecca Vallance outfit for the second day of press interviews for ‘Rivals’.
This follows her recent comments about portraying complex, imperfect characters before the new season of Rivals begins.
She plays Sarah, a character known for being flirtatious and mischievous, in the series alongside stars like Danny Dyer, David Tennant, and Katherine Parkinson.
The Disney+ series, adapted from Jilly Cooper’s popular novel, quickly became a success after its release in 2024.
Emily, known for a nude scene in the first season of the show, recently described Sarah, the wife of MP Paul Stratton, as incredibly difficult to work with.
She explained to The Times that historically, people have been reluctant to relate to characters like Sarah because of her sexually active and mischievous nature.
I love seeing characters that make audiences question whether they should even be supporting them. I’m really interested in playing complex, flawed women who are in difficult situations.
Elsewhere in a chat with the newspaper Victoria Smurfit discussed the series’ many sex scenes.
She portrays Maud O’Hara, the wife of Declan, a TV presenter played by Aidan Turner, and jokingly said her teenage son would definitely not be tuning in to watch it.
The show’s second season is scheduled to premiere in May, and Disney is reportedly very optimistic about its success, with discussions about a potential third season already underway.
The next season of the show will be adapted from Jilly’s 1991 novel, Polo, which is the third book in her popular Rutshire Chronicles series.
According to a source, the name of the show’s next season is still undecided. It might keep the name ‘Rivals,’ be changed to ‘Polo,’ or receive a completely different title.
Disney is very confident that the second season will be just as popular as the first, so they’ve already started planning the third season.
Readers who enjoyed Rivals will be happy to hear that most of the same characters return in Polo. Plus, this new book is just as passionate and exciting as the first, and maybe even more so!
Production on the third season might start later this year, with the episodes expected to be released in late 2027 or early 2028.
Daily Mail has contacted Disney+ for comment.
This news follows a post from ‘Rivals’ star Katherine Parkinson, who described how upset the cast was when they learned that Dame Jilly Cooper had passed away while they were filming.
Dame Jilly played a key role in making the series, helping to write the scripts and even appearing as an actress on the set of the expensive 1980s program.
She told the Daily Mail at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards that the cast are hoping the second season will accurately and respectfully portray the character of Jilly.
Ms. Parkinson said it was a complete shock, and everyone was stunned by the news, regardless of the person’s age.
We really want the show to honor her story, and I believe it will. We have twelve episodes planned, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.
In February, Disney dropped a first look at the hotly-anticipated second series.
The trailer introduces the five central characters, such as David Tennant as Lord Tony Baddingham, the cutthroat head of Corinium television, and Emily as Sarah, a TV star on the rise.
Oh my gosh, Rupert Campbell-Black! He’s just… everything I love to hate! Alex Hassell plays him, and honestly, he is Rupert. This man is Baddingham’s arch-nemesis, and the backstory is amazing – a former Olympic show-jumper, can you believe it? Now he’s a Conservative MP, and he just makes everything so much more complicated. I’m obsessed with every scene he’s in!
I’m thrilled to share that some familiar faces are back! Aidan Turner, who you probably know as Ross Poldark, reprises his role as Declan O’Hara – the former BBC journalist now working at Corinium. And we also have Nafessa Williams returning as Cameron Cook, a talented TV producer from America. It’s going to be great to see what they get up to!
The main line-up is completed by Sex Education’s Bella Maclean as Taggie O’Hara.
The first series ended with a shocking scene: Lord Baddingham was attacked with a trophy by Cameron Cook and left for dead.
However, the trailer proves he’s still alive and doing great—and is once again competing with his on-screen opponent, Campbell-Black.
The competition to win the Central South West television license is getting intense, and the rivalry between Corinium and Venturer is escalating into a risky new stage.
Tony Baddingham is now more determined and aggressive than ever before. He’s systematically working to destroy his opponents, using damaging rumors and manipulating people he trusts to stay in control.
During the wild and extravagant 1980s, the private lives of the people in Rutshire fall apart.
Relationships can fall apart due to overwhelming goals, infidelity can destroy families, and hidden truths often lead to dramatic and unexpected results.
When fierce competition drives people to their limits, friendships and relationships suffer as everyone strives to win. But at what price does this victory come?
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s HAPPENING! They just dropped the trailer and Disney+ officially announced it – the absolute WILDEST show on TV is coming back on May 15th! I’ve been waiting forever, and I seriously can’t even breathe thinking about it!
