As a gaming enthusiast, I can confidently say that the current market is flooded with Action Role-Playing Games (ARPGs). However, what sets Dragonkin: The Banished apart are its unique and captivating twists.
One key advantage of this game lies in the extensive customization options available to players through the Ancestral Grid system.
As a gamer, one of the game-changing abilities I stumbled upon when the grid finally opened was named Symbiosis. This bad boy really shapes my character’s build in a significant way!
Collaborating closely with your Wyrmling companion significantly amplifies the harm you inflict, making it easier for you to overcome foes that once posed a challenge.
In this tutorial, we’ll delve into the Symbiosis phenomenon as it unfolds within the game “Dragonkin: The Banished”, and discuss strategies for harmonizing your skills with your dragon companion.
Choose your Wyrmling

At the start of our epic journey, upon meeting the Jailer, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to pick out a baby dragon, or Wyrmling. This decision carries significant weight as it significantly influences the strength of our bond, the symbiosis between us and the dragon. So, be sure to give it some thought!
In this game, you have the option to choose from four distinct Dragon types, each excelling in their respective elemental categories. If the initial choice doesn’t suit you, there’s no problem – you can swap it out later on.
- Fire Wyrmling
- Electric Wyrmling
- Toxic Wyrmling
- Ice Wyrmling
Every Wyrmling boasts its unique, standalone progression level, whereupon advancement rewards them with fresh talents and inherent traits. As for combat actions, you might discover them embedded within Hex Shards, lootable items from vanquished adversaries.
Try levelling up a new Wyrmling for new effects on your abilities when you achieve Symbiosis.
Select your Ability

Initially, you should navigate to your Family Tree and choose a Character Skill, but remember it needs to be combined with another Hex Fragment for best results.
In this tutorial, I’ll be demonstrating the Savage Whirlwind ability – a power that’s boosted by the Shockwave Modifier. Let’s dive in!
To achieve Symbiosis, these hexes need to be surrounded by 8 applicable Hex Fragments.
Not every ability pairs well with each modifier. Before applying a modifier, ensure you’ve initially identified the specific skill it should be associated with, as these will often have parts marked in blue to help guide you.
Whenever you add a hex fragment, such as a physical damage modifier, it enhances the ability or skill you’ve chosen for the character.

In this ability, there are three factors boosting its physical damage output significantly: increased power multipliers, an area-of-effect enhancement, and a cost reduction modifier.
In this scenario, the original Whirlwind ability, along with the shockwave enhancement and any related pieces, will be accentuated in green as a visual cue to indicate Symbiosis, ensuring at least 10 adjacent hexagons are involved.
Harness Your Chosen Element

In the selected grid, I’ve opted for an Electric Wyrmling, therefore let’s ensure we have hex modifiers that boost electric-based damage.
As a gamer, I’ve strategically inserted an electric damage boost in the skill sequence between Deadly Orb and Call of the Tempest Wyrmling. This tweak amplifies the power of my dragon and supercharges the electric punch of my Savage Whirlwind attack.
This modification doesn’t impact the whirlwind ability itself, but it affects the shockwave component that is associated with the attack. Consequently, the impact can propagate through and influence both entities. With Symbiosis activated, the damage increases from 324 to 400.

The symbiotic state will become apparent, as your talent will shine brightly with a distinctive luminescent effect, significantly amplifying its potency.
With a stunning lightning overhaul, my Whirlwind strike now triggers the abilities of my Wyrmling as well.
Of course, you can broaden these relationships and the results they produce by discovering additional rare Hex Fragments and unlocking further branches on your Family Tree.
Achieving Symbiosis with multiple skills is crucial for progression through the game, especially .
