Doctor Who star Karen Gillan joins cast for Apple TV’s near-perfect returning sitcom

Karen Gillan is well-known for her work in science fiction, having appeared in both Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, she’s trying her hand at comedy with her next role in a sitcom.

According to Variety, Karen Gillan will appear in season four of Apple TV+’s popular comedy-drama, Shrinking. Details about her character are currently being kept under wraps, but she’s expected to be a recurring cast member.

Created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein, and Jason Segel, the show centers around Jimmy Laird (Jason Segel), a therapist who, while dealing with his own loss, starts taking a much more active role in helping his patients.

Season four marks a fresh start for the show. Creator Lawrence has stated that the initial story arc, focusing on themes of grief, forgiveness, and healing, has come to a natural conclusion.

So, I saw a post from Lawrence about season four, and he said we’re getting the same cast, which is awesome! At first, a lot of fans thought that meant totally new characters were coming in, but he quickly clarified that it’s the same people, just a new story unfolding with them. Basically, we’re sticking with the crew we already love, just seeing a different side of things.
