Dave Grohl shares rare insight into his home life as he reveals how he finds ‘comfort’ after being away on tour following his secret child scandal

Dave Grohl recently shared that he enjoys cooking for his kids when he returns home from tour, finding it a relaxing and comforting activity.

Dave Grohl, 57, and his wife, Jordyn Blum, have three daughters: Violet, 19, Harper, 16, and Ophelia, 11.

Their marriage, which appeared strong, and Dave’s reputation as a kind person, were both damaged in September 2024 when he announced he had a secret fourth daughter.

Dave recently shared that he loves coming home after touring and immediately cooking a meal for his kids.

On the Dish from Waitrose podcast with Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett, Dave shared that the first thing he does when he returns home from tour is cook for his family.

I absolutely love being in the kitchen! Whether I’m making a big Sunday roast or a simple pasta dish, I really try to create that warm, comforting feeling of home for my kids. It’s all about bringing that cozy feeling to them.

Dave explained that his passion for food started in his childhood. His family didn’t have much money, so he happily ate whatever his mother prepared for him and his sister, shaping his appreciation for simple meals.

He fondly remembered his mother as a wonderful cook. Despite being a public school teacher and living a modest life, she always managed to provide for him and his sister. She was incredibly resourceful and found creative ways to make delicious meals with very little money.

Honestly, I’m telling you, if she decided to cook a turkey, it would be legendary! We’d be eating leftovers for two weeks, easily. It didn’t even matter what she made – crepes, pasta, anything – I would devour absolutely everything she put in front of me. Seriously, anything!

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired couples who build lasting relationships, and Dave and Jordyn are a perfect example. They’ve been happily married since 2003 and have created a beautiful family with their three daughters. It’s truly inspiring to see a couple thrive for over two decades!

In 2024, the rocker revealed he had secretly fathered a fourth daughter.

Okay, so it’s confirmed! I was scouring Page Six and they actually spoke to Jennifer Young – she’s officially confirmed she’s the mother of his baby! Apparently, the little one arrived on August 1st, 2024, and I checked – his last name is on the birth certificate! I knew it, I just knew it! This is amazing!

His daughter lives in Los Angeles with her mother, who frequently takes her for walks around the neighborhood.

Dave surprised fans with an announcement on Instagram, revealing he recently became a father to a baby daughter. He shared that she was born outside of his marriage and that he intends to be a caring and involved parent.

I deeply love my wife and kids, and I’m working hard to rebuild their trust and be forgiven. We appreciate everyone thinking of all the children as we try to move forward as a family.

Photos surfaced showing Jordyn and Dave no longer wearing their wedding rings, shortly after news broke that Dave had spoken with a lawyer about divorce.

According to sources who spoke with the Daily Mail, the couple has been diligently working to repair their marriage. They’ve spent months in counseling and established firm boundaries to help her monitor her husband’s behavior, hoping to restore their trust in each other.

According to a source, Jordyn was deeply upset and humiliated to learn about Dave’s infidelity. Although many of her friends urged her to get a divorce, she chose to take some time and not make any quick decisions.

They decided to try couples therapy and attended sessions for about six months. This helped them improve their relationship and reach a positive point.

As of now, it doesn’t look like Dave and Jordyn will get divorced, but only if Dave follows a set of rules Jordyn has laid out.

According to another source, the situation became chaotic and the couple nearly broke up. She then presented a long list of demands they both had to meet if they wanted to try and stay together.

She can now see his location on her phone, knowing where he is and what he’s up to. He has the same access to her location, and they both use this to keep track of each other.

Dave began to settle into a more regular routine, staying home instead of constantly traveling. He’s aware his wife might unexpectedly show up when he’s away, so he feels like he’s under close scrutiny and hasn’t earned much trust – he’s still walking on eggshells.

Okay, so everyone says Dave is this total family man, and honestly, it’s SO true. He’s always going on about how much his wife and kids mean to him. He’s even said they’re like… the only things keeping him grounded, like they stop him from just completely losing it. It’s actually really sweet, and honestly, it just makes me love him even more! He’s so vulnerable when he talks about them, it’s amazing.

Before Jordyn came into his life, his history as a rock star was filled with rumors – and his own confessions – of being unfaithful.

He divorced his first wife Jennifer Leigh Youngblood in 1997 after admitting to cheating. 

Looking back on his three-year marriage in 1999, he admitted that he and his wife, who were both very young – he was 25 – simply weren’t prepared for marriage.

He later dated Louise Post of Veruca Salt, but their relationship ended after she accused him of being unfaithful with multiple women.

Despite the infidelity, Jordyn wants to rebuild their relationship and get back to how things were. People close to them say they’re doing well. Meanwhile, Dave is working on co-parenting with his ex, Jennifer.

According to a source, Dave is involved in his daughter’s life and has provided for her financially. While he doesn’t see Jennifer often, their relationship is friendly.

He visits with the baby whenever his schedule allows, and they’ve agreed on a custody arrangement. Jennifer has primary custody, but the goal is for their daughter to have a relationship with her half-siblings as she grows up.

According to another source, Jordyn doesn’t have a relationship with Jennifer and has no desire to. However, she does maintain a relationship with his daughter, and accepts that responsibility without complaint.

Honestly, it felt like a real gut punch when it happened, and even Dave admits he messed up. He understands she had every right to be furious. Right now, though, surprisingly, things are actually going really well for them both. It’s hard to say what the future holds, but for the moment, they seem to be doing great.
