Cyndi Lauper stops Las Vegas concert to swear at heckler: ‘I’m gonna come for you, I’m from Brooklyn’

During the opening night of her Las Vegas show at Caesars Palace, Cyndi Lauper quickly responded to someone who shouted at her from the audience.

During a recent performance, a man in the audience shouted something that couldn’t be understood in a video shared online while the singer was introducing a song.

The singer of ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ said she didn’t understand what the other person was talking about and asked them to be mindful of the situation. She warned that if they were trying to disrespect her, she would respond in kind, emphasizing her tough upbringing in Brooklyn.

The audience erupted in applause after her performance. They had come together on Friday to hear the 72-year-old singer.

She playfully stated that she’d happily express herself however she pleased, even if it meant going to great lengths. She then jokingly added that such theatrics weren’t covered in her cultural training.

Oh my god, then Cyndi went right back to playing “Sally’s Pigeons,” and it just…it completely wrecked me every time. It’s about a friend she had growing up, someone she actually knew, who…who died from a really unsafe abortion. It’s just so heartbreaking, and she pours everything into that performance.

She kicked off her Las Vegas show on Friday at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and will be performing there until May 2nd.

She has concerts scheduled for this Saturday, and again next Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Tickets are still available for all of these shows.

She announced the show in a cheerful Facebook video on Thursday, excitedly telling her fans, ‘We’re in Vegas! I can’t believe we made it!’

Lauper hinted at a few surprises during the show, but she’s keeping them under wraps! She’s really excited and wants everyone to come down and experience a night celebrating ‘Cyn’ – that’s C-Y-N!

This new project follows closely after her recent Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour, which lasted from October 2024 to last August.

Oh my gosh, the tour! It started in Montreal, and from there, it was just a whirlwind! She hit sixty-nine cities – can you believe it?! – all across North America, then Europe, Australia, even Japan! It was absolutely insane, and finally, the grand finale was at the Hollywood Bowl. I was so lucky to catch a show, it was a dream come true!

Okay, so early on in the tour, there was a bit of a moment online. A video went viral of me performing ‘The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough’ – I was rocking blue hair and a silver outfit, having fun on stage – and honestly, people had opinions! It got a lot of attention, let’s just say that. It’s always interesting to see what resonates with people, and sometimes it’s the unexpected things!

Viewers reacted negatively to Cyndi Lauper’s recent performance, with one asking, “What happened to her?” and another criticizing her age, saying she should retire because she was “embarrassing herself.”

People quickly came to her defense, saying things like, ‘You’ll get there too,’ and ‘She’s 71 years old – I hope I’m still that active at her age!’

Her two concerts at the Hollywood Bowl were recorded for a special program called ‘A GRAMMY Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl,’ which will air on CBS and Paramount+.

She told the Recording Academy that being filmed wasn’t the stressful part, but it did create a distance that made it harder to fully immerse herself in the experience.

We weren’t able to take the Farewell Tour to all the places we wanted to, and I hope this makes up for that. I really want to share this experience with everyone who wants to be a part of it,” said the singer, known for ‘All Through the Night’.
