Clarkson’s Farm favourite Harriet Cowan hints she could return to the show after quitting day job as a nurse because she ‘was getting recognised as that girl off the telly’

Harriet Cowan, a popular figure on Clarkson’s Farm, has suggested she might rejoin the show now that she’s left her job as a nurse.

Harriet, age 25, joined the fourth season of the Prime Video show as a short-term fill-in for Kaleb Cooper.

The contestant from Derbyshire wowed Jeremy Clarkson with her farming expertise, which she gained from growing up in a farming family.

Since becoming well-known, Harriet has quickly gained popularity on social media and has started working on several television shows.

According to The Sun, she has given up her nursing position to juggle the media opportunities.

Harriet discussed the potential for another season of Clarkson’s Farm during an interview on the Fed by Farmers podcast.

She said: ‘I’m not allowed to say, you’ll have to see. It’s top secret.’Ā

Harriet also explained that she was leaving her nursing job because of the increasing attention she was receiving.

I was so saddened to hear she’d left nursing, but I completely understand why. She explained it was becoming impossible to do her job properly because people kept recognizing her from the show. It wasn’t about her, though; she was worried about the patients. She felt she needed to be seen as a professional nurse, especially when people were so vulnerable and, sadly, passing away. She didn’t want the distraction of being ‘that girl from TV’ getting in the way of providing the best possible care.

Juggling social media, my nursing job, farm work, and sponsorships became overwhelming. When I look at things clearly, I realize I don’t actually need the extra income.

I was working a job that paid around Ā£34,000 a year, but I realized I didn’t actually need it – you can earn so much more through social media. Some of the numbers I see online are unbelievable.

It’s a big step, but I’m doing it! Not many people can say they walked away from their job at 24 to pursue their lifelong dream of full-time farming, and that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Harriet also mentioned her sponsored partnerships, saying her biggest one to date was with the retailer Aldi.

Harriet playfully teased Jeremy, 66, while explaining why she confronts her co-star. She joked that she always speaks up if someone—especially a man—tries to tell her what to do.

In an interview with The Times, Harriet described her approach on the show, saying she wouldn’t hesitate to challenge anyone who tried to undermine her. She stated, ‘If someone thinks they’re smarter than me and starts being disrespectful, I’ll definitely let them know.’

She explained that her appearance on Clarkson’s Farm showed her true self. She was honest with Jeremy and wasn’t acting for the cameras.

Harriet has teased Jeremy before, once suggesting that not all farmers fit the stereotype of being older men with large stomachs.

Oh my gosh, Harriet is just amazing! She told everyone she really hopes being the star of the show will prove that anyone can be a farmer, and honestly, that’s so important! It’s not just about farming, it’s about breaking down those old ideas of who belongs in the field, and knowing she’s a nurse too? That just makes it even better! I’m so proud of her for using her platform like this.

She explained to BBC News that when people picture a farmer, they often imagine a man in his sixties with a plaid shirt and a bit of a belly. But she pointed out that women are farmers too, and are actively working in the industry.

Don’t underestimate me just because I have a traditionally feminine appearance. I’m perfectly capable of being a farmer.
