“Charming” Stranger Things spin-off branded a “treat” has future confirmed by Netflix

Netflix recently released Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 and has already announced a second season. This animated series revisits the town of Hawkins as the characters face new creatures from the Upside Down.

Netflix reports the series started at number 7 on its Top 10 list, making it one of the 15 most popular animated series premieres ever.

The new season will introduce a dangerous new challenge for the group, with episodes arriving on Netflix this fall.

According to showrunner Eric Robles, the threats the characters encounter are all related. He stated that each season isn’t a standalone story, but rather builds upon what came before.

Robles shared that working on the first season was a fantastic experience. Seeing fans react to the characters – both longtime fans and new viewers – has been incredibly rewarding. She’s looking forward to continuing the story.

What to Read Next

We’re excited to revisit the world of 1985 for Season 2! The Hawkins Investigators are returning, and they’re facing a new, spooky danger that’s risen from the old, closed-down silver mines in town.

I’m excited for viewers to find out where this creature and the strange blue flower from the Upside Down at the end of Season 1 will lead our characters next.

Robles is an executive producer on the show, along with the creators of Stranger Things—the Duffer Brothers—and Hilary Leavitt, Shawn Levy, and Dan Cohen.

In a review of Tales from ’85, Digital Spy noted that the series captures the same appealing qualities that made Stranger Things a hit when it debuted on Netflix in 2016.

As a huge Stranger Things fan, I thought Tales From ‘85 was a really fun escape – and honestly, we could all use a little of that right now. It doesn’t really matter where it fits into the overall story, it’s just a great watch!

The comic Stranger Things: Tales from ’85 followed the well-known group of friends: Mike, Eleven, Will, Dustin, Lucas, and Max.

The show featured a completely new group of voice actors, chosen to better match how old the characters were in 1985.

Robles explained to RadioTimes that the show’s creators specifically wanted fresh, unscripted dialogue from a new group of young actors.

We aimed to portray the genuine, carefree nature of childhood. Kids often express themselves in ways that adults forget they once did, reminding us of the simple honesty of being a child.

The show featured some new faces, like Nikki, a new student voiced by Odessa A’zion, who also stars in Marty Supreme.

Janeane Garofalo, known for her role in Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, provides the voice for Nikki’s mother and the new biology teacher at Hawkins Middle School.
