Channel 4 has released a sneak peek of Glenn Close in her new drama, Up to No Good. The six-part series, based on the stories of Helene Tursten, features Close as Maud Oldcastle, a difficult and grumpy older woman. It’s adapted from Tursten’s short story collections, An Elderly Lady Is Up to No Good and An Elderly Lady Must Not Be Crossed.
The recently published photo features Close posing in front of London’s Royal Albert Hall. She’s wearing a fur coat and hat, and has a long, grey bob haircut with a short fringe.
Lee Haven Jones directed Up to No Good, a new television series written by playwrights Nina and Moses Raine. This is the first original TV show penned by the duo.

The cast is growing with the addition of Tanya Reynolds, Mathew Baynton, Iain Glen, Raphaël Acloque, Nadia Albina, Louisa Binder, Meg Ballamy, Madeleine Mantock, Peter Egan, and Richard E. Grant.
The cast also includes Claudia Jessie, Gloria Obianyo, Anita Dobson, Ben Crompton, Meera Syal, and Penelope Wilton.
What to Read Next
So, I just read the rundown on this new series, and it’s about this character, Maud Oldcastle, who sounds amazing. Apparently, she’s a seriously grumpy, no-nonsense older woman – and that’s putting it mildly! The really cool part? She’s also a killer. I’m already hooked!
After dedicating her life to caring for her sister, Maud is ready for a fresh start. However, her new life is complicated when a detective named Jessie begins investigating a death in her building and suspects Maud is hiding something. This forces Maud to confront the mistakes she’s made, both recently and in the past.
Last year, Close expressed her excitement about collaborating with Channel 4, Sony, and Playground to create this unique and innovative series.

Nina and Moses Raine are incredibly talented writers, and the character of Maud Oldcastle is unlike anything I’ve ever portrayed. I’m so excited to be working with such a fantastic group of people.
When the series, originally called Maud, was first announced, Gwawr Lloyd, Channel 4’s Acting Head of Drama, described it as a bold and darkly humorous drama, and praised Glenn Close, saying she would bring incredible depth to the lead role.
I’m so excited to hear they’re teaming up with Nina, Moses, Playground, and Sony Pictures Television to create this character! I really can’t wait to finally meet Maud Oldcastle – it sounds like she’s going to be amazing.
Up to No Good will air on Channel 4, with a release date yet to be announced.
