BAFTA says review of racial slur scandal found ‘structural weaknesses’ but no malicious intent

An independent review of the incident at the British Academy Film and Television Arts awards found problems with BAFTA’s planning and how it handles crises. During the ceremony on February 22nd, a member of the audience with Tourette syndrome used a racial slur while actors Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo were on stage. BAFTA and the BBC were criticized – and have since apologized – for broadcasting the event with the slur still audible, despite a two-hour delay.

Let me tell you about Teddy Swims. Honestly, it’s a fantastic stage name – and everyone seems to be talking about him! I’ve been seeing fans from all over – Germany, Holland, Japan, China – and they all know who Teddy Swims is. It’s got a ring to it, doesn’t it? Something memorable… almost like a Greenberg, or maybe a Helfenbein? I don’t know, it just works.
