Viewers of Married At First Sight have noticed a strange pattern with the men on this season’s show – and it’s not related to their relationships on TV.
This week, social media personality Fashion Critical caused a stir among her followers by posting pictures of grooms on a TV show wearing very tight pants.
This year on Married at First Sight, several of the men embraced a new fashion trend: jeggings, or faux pants. In fact, Filip Gregov even wore a pair when he proposed to Stella Mickunaiten during Tuesday’s episode.
David Momoh, Danny Hewitt, and Scott McCristal were among the other grooms who tried out the jeggings trend.
Fashion Critical jokingly described the men on this season of Married at First Sight as embodying the essence of ‘jeggings’ – a confusing hybrid that’s not quite pants, not quite leggings, and typically 7/8ths length.
Fans immediately criticized the very tight outfit, with one person asking, ‘Does anyone actually like this?’ and another calling it ‘terrible’.
Another user commented, ‘So many fashion mistakes!’ while someone else jokingly wondered if everyone applying had to wear extremely tight pants.
News of this comes as reports suggest the couples on this season of Married at First Sight will end up with less money than they started with.
Recent data shows that the participants currently appearing on Married At First Sight are on track to earn less than any previous group of contestants.
Gia Fleur, often portrayed as the ‘villain’ on this season’s show, is estimated to earn around $1,548 for each sponsored post she makes.
Based on data collected when she had 88,800 followers (she now has over 94,400), her lowest potential earnings are estimated at $1,267.
A disability support worker is gaining attention alongside bride Alissa Fay, who could earn between $877 and $1,072 for each social media post.
Luke Fourniotis departed the show Nine after his relationship with Melissa Akbay ended during a commitment ceremony.
Despite everything, he’s still expected to earn a small amount of money, potentially between $691 and $846 for each sponsored post, according to available data.
Are reality stars hurting their image with questionable fashion choices?
What’s your view?
Popular bride Stella Mickunaite and groom Scott McCristal from Gia also earn a similar amount of money.
At the lower end of earnings, Sammy Stanton and Chris Robinson made between $289 and $456.
David Momoh and Rachel Gilmore seem to earn roughly the same amount, while Bec Zacharia likely earns less than all the other top ten earners.
Even though Bec and her rival Gia caused a lot of drama on the show, she’s only predicted to earn between $250 and $312 for each sponsored post she makes.
