Bluey movie coming from the BBC and Disney+
As a longtime fan of Bluey and someone who has watched every single adventure of Bandit, Chilli, Bluey, and Bingo, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming feature film! With over 150 episodes under my belt, I can confidently say that this Australian gem has brought countless hours of joy to both me and my family.
Enthusiasts of Bluey will be thrilled to know that the beloved TV series is planning to make its grand appearance on the big screen in a full-length movie.
This Australian kids’ series centers around its main character and her loved ones – Dad Bandit, Mom Chilli, and little sister Bingo – who often embark on exciting journeys as a team.
For six years, this popular show boasted three seasons and more than 150 episodes, leaving fans eager for what’s next. Now, they have something exciting to anticipate as it was recently announced that a big-screen adaptation – titled “Bluey: The Movie” – is in the works.
Excitedly speaking as a devoted fan, I can’t help but share the thrilling news! According to the official site, the production of “Bluey: The Movie” is being handled by BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company, with plans for a grand cinema release in 2027. After its cinematic run, it seems this delightful movie will be available for streaming on Disney+, allowing us fans to rewatch it anytime we want!
Speaking about the project, its creator Joe Brumm expressed that he had a great time delving into a longer format for ‘The Sign’ in season 3, and extending it to a full-length feature film just feels like a logical progression from that enjoyable experience.
For a long time, I’ve felt that Bluey should have its own cinematic adventure, and my hope is that this becomes a shared, immersive experience that families can enjoy together.
In a different note, I’m excited to spread some news about Bluey – both exciting and challenging parts! First, the positive: While taking a break from the series for another project, an old concept popped up, and before I realized it, I had penned a feature script for Bluey that I truly cherish.
Skip over a lot of negotiations, and we’re ready to start creating an animated film based on ‘Bluey’!” He went on to say this, followed by sharing his intention to take a pause in the production of episodes for the show.
I’ve consistently stated that I wouldn’t continue the show if I didn’t believe I could create a new season as strong as the last one. If that was true for a hypothetical Season 4, then I would have had to stop working on the TV series. Consequently, I’ve chosen to step back from my role in the television program for a while.
Brumm assured that if he can’t come up with any more great episodes, then “The Sign” will serve as the final TV episode for “Bluey,” and he believes the story concludes in a fitting and satisfactory manner.
Bluey: The Movie will be released in 2027.
