Billions actor Akili McDowell, 21, is arrested and charged with murder in shooting death of man, 20, in Houston parking lot

I remember cheering for him as David in “David Makes Man” and admiring his performance in “Billions.” His talent was undeniable, and I couldn’t wait to see where his journey would take him next.
As an utterly devoted admirer putting aside my adoration for a moment, I must address the heartbreaking news that actor Akili McDowell stands accused of murder. The tragic incident occurred in Houston, Texas on July 20, where he’s been charged with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man. It’s hard to reconcile the captivating characters he brought to life with these sobering allegations. My thoughts are with all those affected by this devastating turn of events.
21-year-old McDowell, known for his roles in Billions and David Makes Man, was taken into custody at Harris County Jail on Thursday, August 1st, facing accusations of murder and robbery.
On August 3, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office announced through a social media post that McDowell was indicted for the murder of Cesar Peralta.
Law enforcement officials were dispatched to a scene taking place in the parking area of an apartment building located at 13503 North Thorntree, which is in close proximity to Wallisville and Uvalde, within the eastern part of Harris County.
A man, likely in his twenties, suffered fatal gunshot injuries at the location where the incident occurred. The perpetrator(s) escaped without being identified.
In a recent development, homicide investigators have indicted 21-year-old Akili McDowell for murder, following the fatal shooting of Cesar Peralta, aged 20. McDowell has been apprehended and is currently being detained in Harris County Jail.

Peralta was not armed.
As an utterly devoted admirer, I can’t help but ponder over the intriguing mystery surrounding McDowell. I find myself wondering about the methods used to identify him as a suspect, the dramatic moments leading to his arrest, and whether or not he had any prior connection with the victim. According to online prison records, McDowell is currently detained with a bail set at $400,000 in connection with a murder charge. A court date has been scheduled for him on Monday, August 5.
He’s due in court again on August 6 regarding the theft charge, and another court appearance is set for October 9 concerning the murder charge.
McDowell is known for starring as David in OWN’s David Makes Man.
He guest-starred as Savion Williams in Billions, as well as the role of Zavier Gibbs in The Astronaut Wives Club.
