The list of nominees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s 2026 class is out, and several British artists are in the running. This year’s group of UK contenders includes many musicians who have been nominated before, in addition to being known for their fantastic music.
British artists consistently bring a high level of talent to the nominations, and many have been inducted over time. Just in the past four years, eight UK artists have made it in: Bad Company and Joe Cocker in 2025, Peter Frampton and Ozzy Osbourne in 2024, Kate Bush and George Michael in 2023, and the Eurythmics and Duran Duran in 2022.
Building on the success of many famous British musicians before them, this group represents a large surge of rock artists from the 1960s and 70s who gained popularity in the United States. Artists like Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, and others have all achieved similar recognition.
The Brit Pack are back to claim Rock Hall of Fame status
The UK artists nominated this year aren’t newcomers – in fact, this is their second or third time being considered. All five nominees have been up for awards before, as you’ll see in the list below.
Rock Hall of Fame 2026 – UK artists nominated
- Sade
- Iron Maiden
- Billy Idol
- Joy Division/New Order
- Oasis
So far, none of these artists have won, but it looks promising that one of them will this time. Each has both strengths and weaknesses. Sade might face the biggest challenge, as they were nominated before in 2024 but could be surpassed by other contenders. However, their mellow jazz sound has gotten them this far, so they’re still in the running.
Iron Maiden and Billy Idol have each been nominated once before – Iron Maiden in 2023 and Billy Idol in 2025, marking his second year in a row as a nominee. Both bands would be fantastic additions to the induction ceremony, bringing their distinctive British rock sound to the stage.
Joy Division and New Order share many of the same members, so we’re considering them as one act. After being overlooked in 2023 and 2025, they’re back in contention – could this finally be their year? As pioneers of 1980s new wave, they certainly deserve recognition.
Can Oasis enter the Hall of Fame despite those Liam comments?
Oasis is now the fifth British act in the running for the 2026 competition. This is the third year in a row they’ve been nominated, boosted by the massive success of their Oasis Live ’25 Tour in 2025.
Although it seems like they should be fine, Liam Gallagher doesn’t seem to care much about being inducted into the Hall of Fame, judging by his recent comments.
Liam Gallagher might not care much, but people will be very interested in who gets nominated in the coming weeks. Oasis is probably the frontrunner, as long as the Gallagher brothers don’t fall out and ruin their chances. Regardless of whether Oasis is successful, it’s likely that some of the recently popular ‘Brit Pack’ artists will finally receive nominations, after being overlooked in the past.
