Game of Thrones movie has been revived with a script already written by boss of Netflix hit thriller

A movie adaptation of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones is reportedly in the works at Warner Bros. Beau Willimon, known for House of Cards and Andor, is writing the script.

Page Six was the first to report that Beau Willimon has already turned in a first draft of the project, which reportedly impressed Warner Bros. Discovery’s executives.

The report suggests the movie might tell the story of Aegon I, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty who brought six of the seven kingdoms together – all before the timeline of the TV show.

What to Read Next

Everything that happens in Game of Thrones ultimately relates back to Aegon I, even though he hasn’t appeared in the show itself.

Following the end of Game of Thrones in 2019, two prequel series have been released: House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.

HBO has ordered a third season of House of the Dragon, set to premiere in June 2024. The show will end after a fourth season, currently planned for release in 2028.

The TV show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms debuted last month and has been picked up for another season.

Last month, a new and unusual spin-off of Game of Thrones was revealed: a stage play called Game of Thrones: The Mad King.

Duncan Macmillan has adapted the play, and Dominic Cooke will direct it. It will premiere this summer at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

As winter ends and spring arrives in Harrenhal, a grand feast is held the night before a jousting tournament. Amidst the celebration, people fall in love and everyone wonders who will compete.

Okay, so things are getting seriously tense in the kingdom. Everyone’s starting to freak out about how brutal our king has become, and I’m hearing whispers that some of his closest advisors are secretly plotting against him – full-on treason, apparently. And to top it all off, I can already hear the war drums in the distance… looks like trouble’s brewing!

As a huge fan, I’m so glad all eight seasons of Game of Thrones are finally out on DVD and Blu-ray! And if you’re looking to watch the prequel, House of the Dragon, in the US, you can find it on HBO and Max. Over in the UK, it’s showing on Sky Atlantic and NOW.
