A Surprise Rate Hike? Cardano (ADA) and Bittensor (TAO) Climb Before the Fed Speaks

A Surprise Rate Hike? <a href="https://pricpr.com/ada-usd/">Cardano</a> (<a href="https://bbg-news.com/ada-usd/">ADA</a>) and Bittensor (<a href="https://bbg-news.com/tao-usd/">TAO</a>) Climb Before the Fed Speaks

Both Cardano and Bittensor saw gains on Wednesday as investors waited for the Federal Reserve to announce its interest rate decision. There was about a 25% expectation that the Fed might unexpectedly raise rates.

Both altcoins held firm while the broader market consolidated ahead of the announcement.

As the US interest rate decision approaches, several cryptocurrencies are showing significant movement. Cardano (ADA) is currently a top performer, gaining over 6% in the last 24 hours. Tao (TAO) is also up, increasing by about 3%. However, Zcash (ZEC), Near Protocol (NEAR), OKB, and Mantle (MNT) have each experienced losses of around 4% during the same period. A look at their performance over the past week reveals…

What Prediction Markets Signal Before the Fed Decision

Polymarket currently estimates about a 25% chance of an interest rate increase. However, 26% of those participating still believe the Federal Reserve will keep rates steady, between 3.50% and 3.75%.

Interest rates haven’t changed at all this year. If they remain steady today, it will be the fifth meeting in a row with no change – continuing a period of stability that started back in early 2026.

Some of the current unpredictability comes down to who’s leading the group. Kevin Warsh recently became chair in May, replacing Jerome Powell, and this is just his second time heading the meetings.

Traders are currently predicting a 26% probability that the Federal Reserve, led by Chair Kevin Warsh, will increase interest rates by 0.25% at their meeting on Wednesday.

Compared to the previous Fed chair, Jerome Powell, Warsh has indicated he’ll share fewer details about future plans. When speaking to Congress, he strongly emphasized his opposition to rising prices, which financial markets interpreted as a sign he’s likely to raise interest rates.

Rising energy costs are adding to economic concerns. Oil prices recently surpassed $100 a barrel due to increased tensions with Iran, which is contributing to ongoing inflation.

Why Are Cardano and Bittensor Holding Firm

Cardano is currently trading around $0.164, up about 4.6% over the past day, according to BeInCrypto. With a market value of over $6.1 billion, it remains firmly in the top 20 cryptocurrencies.

This project focuses on careful, well-researched development. Currently, we’re working on making it more scalable and sustainable, while also encouraging wider use of its smart contracts in both decentralized apps and practical, everyday applications.

Bittensor is currently trading around $193, giving it a market capitalization of approximately $1.85 billion. Over the last 24 hours, the token’s value has increased by about 3%, placing it around the 42nd position by market cap.

Bittensor’s strength lies in its unique approach. It incentivizes teamwork in machine learning by connecting separate networks, effectively bridging the gap between blockchain technology and artificial intelligence.

Throughout 2026, that particular intersection has consistently attracted interest. Investors see the network as a way to directly invest in the building blocks of decentralized AI, not just as a typical payment token.

Currently, Bittensor creates approximately $246 to $269 million worth of new BTT tokens each year. While the total value generated is high, recent data shows that outside customers have spent around $2.34 million on its subnets over the past 90 days – distributed across seven different networks. If this spending continues at the same rate for a full year, it would equal approximately…

What Happens Once the Fed Finally Speaks

Despite their potential, both projects are still affected by the overall economic climate. They could be impacted by changes in available money, the value of the dollar, and how willing investors are to take risks.

According to data from Santiment, traders are adjusting their positions on the blockchain in anticipation of an upcoming announcement. Analyst David Gokhshtein and others have suggested that ADA could potentially experience a breakout if the announcement is favorable.

Cardano only gets this much attention because people see it as a potential competitor. It’s frustrating to see so many opinions from those who haven’t bothered to learn anything about the project. But, by all means, keep discussing $ADA – at least it’s getting noticed.

The likely effects are pretty simple: if the Federal Reserve raises interest rates, the dollar will probably get stronger, which usually puts pressure on investments considered risky, like most cryptocurrencies. If the Fed *doesn’t* raise rates, that could cause prices to go up. Projects focused on smart contracts and artificial intelligence tend to do especially well when there’s more money available in the market.

What Jerome Powell said in his recent press conference might be more important than the actual interest rate decision. Because he offered less clear direction, traders are now focusing on *how* he said things to try and figure out what the Federal Reserve will do next.

Policymakers will face a key decision in September regarding interest rates. Recent forecasts suggest almost half are leaning towards increasing those rates before the end of the year.

The Federal Reserve is widely anticipated to hold interest rates steady between 3.5% and 3.75%. However, there’s still a significant possibility – around a one-in-three chance – that they might unexpectedly raise rates. Investors will be closely listening to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s comments, as rising oil prices are adding to inflation worries, even though the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data showed some cooling. Cardano and Bittensor currently demonstrate a growing trend: cryptocurrencies are becoming more influenced by broader economic conditions. While a project’s core strengths are important, short-term price movements are largely driven by monetary policy – things like interest rates and the money supply.
