As an analyst tracking Strive Asset Management, I’ve observed they recently added to their Bitcoin holdings between July 20th and 24th, increasing their position from 19,921 to 20,000 coins. This purchase cost approximately $5.2 million, averaging around $65,723 per Bitcoin including transaction fees. Strive initially adopted a strategy of holding Bitcoin as part of its treasury assets back in September 2025, and their current holdings are now valued at roughly $1.3 billion.
Several companies also hold significant amounts of Bitcoin. Strategy holds more than 843,000 BTC, while Twenty One Capital has over 43,500, and Metaplanet owns 43,000.
Reasons for the BTC Buy
In January 2026, Strive acquired Semler Scientific, taking control of the company’s holdings of over 5,000 Bitcoin. The purchase was made entirely with Strive stock, so Strive retained its existing cash and could continue buying more cryptocurrency.
The company generated funds by selling its ASST and SATA stock, giving them two separate sources of money for new acquisitions. Strive has also approved a plan to raise $4.2 billion, with the intention of converting those funds into Bitcoin as they become available.
As of July, the company held $157.4 million in cash, a slight increase from $154.1 million. However, it also reported a quarterly net loss of $393.6 million. Like Strategy, Strive is prioritizing increasing its Bitcoin holdings per share over simply adding to its overall Bitcoin reserves – a common approach for companies investing in cryptocurrency.
Swimming Against the Tide
In 2025, Strive Group became a publicly traded company through a merger with Asset Entities, and Matt Cole was appointed CEO. Despite some competitors reducing or selling their Bitcoin holdings, Strive has continued to actively buy more BTC.
Several companies recently reduced their Bitcoin holdings. Satsuma Technology sold all of its remaining BTC—668 coins—after previously selling 579 in December, completely exiting the cryptocurrency market. Other firms like Metaplanet stopped buying, and Smarter Web Company, Nakamoto, and others also sold off parts of their Bitcoin reserves.
Strategy has stopped buying Bitcoin, and this announcement happened on the same day that Strive completed its treasury purchase.
