Emma Thompson is famous for her work in British dramas, but she’s also appeared in other types of films. For example, she was in I Am Legend, a thrilling movie about surviving after the end of the world.
The movie takes inspiration from Richard Matheson’s 1954 novel of the same title. It’s set in New York City after a virus – originally created as a possible cancer treatment – has killed most of the population.
The story centers around Robert Neville, played by Will Smith, a doctor who somehow survived a deadly virus. He’s one of the last people left and spends his time trying to find a cure, all while protecting himself and his loyal dog, Sam, from the dangerous infected people around them.

The horror-thriller, directed by Francis Lawrence, is now streaming on BBC iPlayer after its initial showing on BBC One on Sunday, July 26th. But don’t wait too long – it will only be available until August 25th.
The film’s cast features Alice Braga, Charlie Tahan, Willow Smith, Dash Mihok, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, alongside Smith and Thompson – with Thompson appearing as Dr. Alice Krippin in some archival footage.
What to Read Next
When I Am Legend came out in 2007, it did very well in theaters, earning $585 million around the world. Critics generally liked the movie too, and it currently has a 68% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 213 reviews.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, the story is powerfully captivating in its portrayal of extreme isolation – what it would truly be like to be the last person on Earth. BBC.com highlighted Smith’s unexpectedly touching acting.

The survival thriller has earned a strong rating of 7.2 out of 10 on IMDb, based on over 883,000 viewer votes. One person praised the movie as “spectacular,” highlighting its beautiful visuals and special effects, adding that they plan to watch it again.
Okay, so the ending of that movie really split people, but good news – they’re making a sequel and they’re going to basically rewrite what happened! Will Smith’s coming back, and even better, Michael B. Jordan is joining the cast. We got a big update in April – Steven Caple Jr., who directed Creed II, is going to be directing this one, which I think is awesome!
