Fans of the movie Grease got a special treat this week when Didi Conn, who starred in the original film, made an appearance at a live event in London. Grease: The Immersive Movie Musical is currently playing in Battersea Park and is being called a spectacular, fully immersive experience that puts audiences right into the world of the beloved musical.
Last night at the concert, Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson played the role of Teen Angel during a performance of ‘Beauty School Dropout,’ which is known for its memorable fantasy sequence featuring the character Frenchie.
Fans were surprised to see the original actress who played Frenchie, Didi, join a performance with Jess Smith, who currently plays the role in the Immersive show.

Didi starred in the 1978 film as a Pink Lady who briefly leaves high school for beauty school, but returns after an accident during a lesson. She later assists in giving Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) a new look.
The movie Grease tells the story of Sandy, a new student from Australia, and Danny Zuko, a cool, leather-jacket-wearing guy. They have a fun summer fling, but things get complicated when they start attending the same high school.
What to Read Next
Get ready to relive the magic of the classic 1978 movie! This London show features all your favorite songs – like ‘Summer Nights’, ‘Greased Lightnin’’, and ‘We Go Together’ – performed live by a talented cast and band, with scenes from the film playing on screens around you.
Guests are instantly transported into the world of the movie as soon as they enter this immersive experience. They can explore famous locations like Frosty Palace, the Autoshop, and the Carnival, and really feel like they’re part of the story. They’ll experience school life by training with Coach Calhoun, cheering on the T-Birds, joining a choir practice, and even enjoying classic 1950s diner food.

So, outside of gaming, I’ve been following Didi, and she’s been super busy! You might remember her from back in 2018 when she was on Dancing on Ice in the UK. But that’s not all – she’s also popped up in a bunch of TV shows recently, like Harlan Coben’s Shelter, Overcompensating, Best Medicine, and even Elsbeth. It’s cool to see someone I recognize from other stuff branching out!
As a huge Grease fan, I was really excited when they announced Rise of the Pink Ladies in 2023! Sadly, it only lasted for one season before getting canceled, which was pretty disappointing.
