143,480 Americans Warned After Cybercriminals Target Texas Software Firm, Placing Personal, Financial and Medical Records at Risk

As a crypto investor, data breaches always make me nervous. I just heard about a company in Texas that handles immigration and case management getting hacked. Apparently, the personal info of thousands of people was exposed, which is a huge deal. It’s a reminder that even companies handling sensitive, non-crypto data are vulnerable, and that impacts everyone online.

In October 2025, Docketwise detected potential unauthorized access to a third-party partner’s system and promptly launched an investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity professionals.

The company states that the leaked information involves individuals whose data they obtained through their work with immigration law firms.

Maine’s Attorney General announced a data breach that happened on September 1st, 2025, and wasn’t discovered until February 19th, 2026. The breach impacts the information of 143,480 individuals.

DocketWise says that the perpetrators acquired names and other personal information.

After a recent review, DocketWise discovered that some of your personal information may have been accessed without authorization. We want to assure you that there’s no indication this was specifically aimed at immigration firms, or that your private information has been publicly shared.

The company’s investigation revealed that the attackers gained access using legitimate usernames and passwords. They then copied data from various online sources, including one used to transfer information for a DocketWise application. This copied data included confidential law firm records containing personal details of their clients.
