- CODM developers confirm no major Zombies mode updates are planned right now.
- Development focus remains on Battle Royale and Multiplayer modes.
- The Zombies community are not happy with how the mode is being sidelined.
If you were hoping for significant new content in COD Mobile’s Zombies mode, you might be disappointed. Jeff Gullett, the head of Call of Duty Mobile, recently announced during the first “Inside CODM” developer show that there aren’t any plans for major updates to the main Zombies experience right now.
Zombies will still continue appearing during seasonal events like Halloween
The conversation started when Ferg, a popular content creator, asked a question many COD Mobile players are wondering: what’s the current status of the Zombies mode?
Jeff acknowledged players would likely ask about this, but explained the team needs to focus on the modes most people are currently playing – Battle Royale and Multiplayer. They have to prioritize where the majority of the player base is active.
Will Zombies mode be removed from Call of Duty Mobile? The answer is no – Zombies will always be a part of the game, particularly during events like Halloween. However, the developers aren’t currently planning any big updates, expansions, or new content specifically for the core Zombies mode.
I’ve always noticed that while Call of Duty Mobile’s Zombies mode doesn’t have as many players as the regular Multiplayer or Battle Royale, the people who do play it are seriously dedicated. Whenever Zombies gets taken offline, or a new update is delayed, the community immediately starts talking about it and asking the developers to put more effort into the mode – they really want it to thrive!
This game mode first appeared in 2019, but was completely taken down in 2020. It came back with the Undead Siege and Classic Zombies events, but hasn’t received significant updates beyond those seasonal changes, small missions, and minor improvements, leaving it with less content than other parts of COD Mobile.
So, the devs also told us they’re working on a huge new Battle Royale map! That, and they’re bringing back Gulag, which really tells you where their priorities are right now. It’s all about the BR experience, it seems!
COD Mobile fans are not happy with the sidelining of the Zombie mode
However, many in the Call of Duty Mobile (CODM) community, particularly those who have played Zombies for a long time, are unhappy with the response. Players on Reddit and YouTube have been discussing how Zombies mode hasn’t received significant updates in years, which they believe is the real reason for its declining player base.
Players have noted that certain game modes, like Undead Siege, haven’t been updated much since 2021. Others have expressed disappointment with the limited number of maps, the lack of ways to progress, few hidden surprises, insufficient rewards, and a need for better performance.
Players were also frustrated because the conversation seemed to prioritize future cosmetic items and special skins, while they believed more important issues were being ignored.
