Call of Duty: Mobile is delivering something fans have wanted for a long time. During the first “Inside CODM” developer show, Jeff Gullett, the head of Call of Duty: Mobile at Activision, announced that a large new Battle Royale map is currently being made, and the popular Gulag mode will be coming back.

The announcement came during a conversation with creator Ferg and host Spidertiff, where developers answered questions taken directly from the community on Reddit and YouTube.

COD Mobile to reveal more BR map details during the anniversary season later this year

Jeff confirmed that Call of Duty: Mobile players will be getting a new, large Battle Royale map. He hinted that details will be revealed during the game’s anniversary event later this year.

Players have generally enjoyed Rebirth Island in Call of Duty: DMZ, appreciating its quick action and intense, close-quarters combat. However, many have been requesting a brand-new, large-scale map for the Battle Royale mode, and it seems that request is finally being fulfilled.

The Gulag, a map originally available for a limited time during Season 7 called Phantom Current, will be returning. However, the specific date of its return hasn’t been announced yet.

So, I dropped into a 1v1 on the Isolated map in Battle Royale, and the deal was, if you got taken out, you either had to try and redeploy right away or hope your teammate could grab your dog tags for a second chance. Jeff was saying that the Gulag actually came about because players were giving a lot of feedback, and it really helped shape how the game was updated later on. It’s cool to see they actually listen to us!

Honestly, the devs told me they really saw how upset everyone was when they took it out. Apparently, it had even been used instead of the old dog tag revives for a good stretch, so people had really gotten used to it.

For a long time, the game has centered around the ‘Isolated’ and ‘Blackout’ modes. While other battle royale games have been updated with new features and temporary events, this game’s core focus remained consistent. Recently, the developers introduced Rebirth Island, calling it their most challenging map yet, and added new Recon features to the DMZ mode.

We don’t yet know what the next map will be, and it will likely be another six months before it’s released. Based on past anniversary updates – the 6th was in December, while the 4th and 5th were in November – we can expect the new map around that time. For now, all we can do is be patient.
