Emilia Clarke, known for playing Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, has said she’s comfortable with being forever linked to the character. Clarke played Daenerys throughout all eight seasons of the show, which concluded in 2019.
Speaking on Virgin Radio UK’s The Chris Evans Breakfast Show, Emilia Clarke admitted she doesn’t think she’ll fully process her time on Game of Thrones for many years – maybe not until she’s in her 90s. She also said she went through a period where she wanted to be recognized for work beyond just that one show.
It’s understandable, but I’ve realized how amazing it was. I always believed in my abilities and thought I could pursue other things, constantly telling myself I was a capable actor.

I’m so thankful that experience happened, and I’ll likely always identify with that fiery, powerful image. Maybe embracing that ‘dragon’ persona – even as I get older – is actually a good thing!
While filming Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke wore a white blonde wig for her role as Daenerys Targaryen. This meant people often didn’t recognize her in public during the show’s early seasons.
What to Read Next
“It took about three seasons for me to be recognised,” Clarke shared.
At first, when the show started, people would often ask Kit [Harington] and me for photos. I was happy to oblige, and it was a fun experience for a while. But then things changed quickly, and the attention became overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Clarke will next be seen in sci-fi romance Next Life opposite Édgar Ramírez.
The movie will debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, taking place from June 3rd to 14th. This will be its first showing anywhere in the world.
According to Tribeca, the story begins when Ivy encounters a charming jazz musician on a train. This single meeting splits the narrative into two possibilities: one where she finds love with him, and another where she gets back together with her former fiancé.
Ivy is faced with two different paths, each offering her something she desires. She wonders which relationship holds genuine love and how she can possibly decide between them.
