JW ANDERSON Just Turned Diadora’s 1975 Runner Into Your Next Obsession

Italian sportswear has had a lasting impact on fashion. While luxury brands are now drawing inspiration from athletic wear, companies like Diadora were pioneers, creating the look of modern sports through innovative design and quality construction. Now, Diadora is teaming up with JW ANDERSON for its first-ever collaboration, bringing this rich history back into the spotlight.

The main highlight of this release is the Equipe trainer, first created by Diadora in 1975 for professional runners. Unlike many retro sneakers being reissued today, the Equipe feels special because it comes from a time before sneakers became primarily a fashion trend – when they were truly focused on athletic performance. Designer Jonathan Anderson has honored the shoe’s original, streamlined running shape while updating it with bold colors and refined details, bringing a modern, fashionable edge to this classic design.

The shoe’s release aligns with current trends. People are moving away from bulky, flashy sneakers and favoring sleeker, more streamlined running shoes made with technical materials. This shoe reflects that shift with its clean design, featuring a pointed toe, a sole that wraps around the heel, and minimal branding – blending high performance with a subtle, modern look.

We first got a glimpse of this collaboration in JW Anderson’s Autumn/Winter 2026 lookbook. This exclusive release from TopMob includes never-before-seen photos of actor Conor Sánchez, shot by Sammy Khoury. The collection comes in four colors – Green Night, Navy Peony, Empire Red, and Princess Blue – and celebrates the skilled production coming from Montebelluna, Italy, a region famous for making high-quality technical footwear.

This special collection will be available starting May 15th at certain JW ANDERSON locations, Nordstrom, and online at jwanderson.com and diadora.com.
