Études Studios and Maia Ruth Lee’s Take on the Artist Uniform

Summary

  • Paris-based E@tudes Studio tapped artist Maia Ruth Lee for a collaborative capsule expanding on their 2026 Spring/Summer collection, Surroundings
  • The lineup features a jacket, button up, pants, a silk scarf and tee, emblazoned with patterning inspired by Lee’s Bondage Baggage series

I’m really excited about this! Études Studio just dropped a cool collection made with the artist Maia Ruth Lee, and it’s perfect timing as we head into spring and summer.

Building on the Land Art themes of their Spring/Summer 2026 collection, Surroundings, the new line revisits Lee’s Bondage Baggage concept. Each piece of clothing is designed to represent a specific location and evoke personal memories.

This collection focuses on the artist and their clothing. Classic pieces are updated with practical, outdoor-inspired details and designed for comfortable movement. The result is a refined, yet grounded, collection that blends tailored pieces with workwear influences – ideal for everyday life in the studio and beyond.

So, Peter Sutherland did a photoshoot in Lee’s studio, and it really brings the collection to life. I saw some shots of Lee wearing this awesome matching hoodie and pants set while she was actually painting – like, creating a map design that then gets printed onto the clothes. It’s cool because her art and the clothes are totally connected – she’s literally building her research right into the fabric!
