I just finished watching “The Southern Cross,” the eighth episode of Daredevil: Born Again, and wow! It’s packed with major spoilers, but it also feels like we’re seeing a glimpse of what’s to come for Bullseye in the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe. I have a feeling he’s going to be a really important character moving forward, maybe even beyond 2026! It’s exciting to think about what they have planned for him.
So, I was reading an interview with Wilson Bethel, who plays Bullseye, and he was talking about what’s next for his character after Daredevil: Born Again. You remember how we saw Bullseye escaping with Mr. Charles? Well, someone asked him if that might mean Bullseye could end up with the New Avengers, and he basically said, yeah, that’s a totally reasonable idea and he wouldn’t disagree! He pointed out that in the comics, Bullseye has a history of working with the government on some pretty questionable stuff, so it definitely fits his character.
He explained that Bullseye, at his core, is often depicted in the comics as a hired killer, making it believable that a government could fund his operations. Interestingly, the comics also show Bullseye as a member of the Thunderbolts, a team that, within the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s timeline, eventually became the New Avengers.
In an interview with Inverse, Wilson Bethel discussed the possibility of his character, Bullseye, becoming a mercenary-style anti-hero or joining a new version of the Thunderbolts team. He expressed his enthusiasm for such a role, saying, “I’d really like to do something like that, so hopefully it happens!”
Fans of the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again season can expect a fresh appearance for the character Bullseye. Actor Wilson Bethel revealed on The Brandon Davis Show that when the character returns in 2027, he’ll be sporting a new costume. Bethel, who is a proponent of comic book-accurate designs, confirmed a new suit is being developed, though he didn’t share any further details.
Following the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, it’s evident Marvel Studios plans to continue featuring Bullseye in future projects. Now that the former Netflix Marvel shows are officially part of the main Marvel Cinematic Universe, there are many possibilities for what they can do with the character of Poindexter, extending beyond his appearance in the Disney+ series.
Including Bullseye in a team like the Thunderbolts (also known as the New Avengers) or a darker version like the Dark Avengers would open up new storytelling possibilities for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, drawing inspiration from the comics. While some changes from the source material would be necessary, it would finally give actor Wilson Bethel a fitting role within the MCU films.
Given Luke Cage previously did secret work for a man named Mr. Charles while abroad, the storyline after Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will likely involve Bullseye taking on similar assignments. This could also finally reveal details about what Luke Cage was doing before returning to his family.
Daredevil: Born Again seasons 1-2 are streaming on Disney+, with season 3 slated to arrive in 2027.
