What we know about the next drama coming from creator of popular hit Tell Me Lies

Even though Tell Me Lies was a hit on Hulu, its creator, Meaghan Oppenheimer, is already working on a new series for the streaming service.

According to Variety, Christopher Nolan will develop, write, and produce a family drama called Bastards. He finished the script shortly after completing Tell Me Lies, and it was very well-received.

The story follows three adult siblings who return to their childhood home after their famous mother becomes embroiled in a public scandal. They must now care for their teenage half-sister, a sibling they’ve been estranged from, while also dealing with their own personal struggles.

With long-held family secrets revealed and past conflicts returning, the siblings are forced to deal with a complicated legacy of both affection and hardship. Hulu is reportedly moving quickly to develop the project.

Beyond the series title, a brief summary, and Christopher Nolan’s involvement as a producer, details are scarce. We don’t yet know who will star in the show, and it likely won’t be released until 2027 or later.

I was so hooked on Tell Me Lies – I just finished watching the third season, and I’m already wanting more! It’s based on a book by Carola Lovering from 2018, and it really dives into this complicated, years-long relationship between Lucy and Stephen. It’s great to hear they’re building on that success!

I recently watched this show about a couple, played by Grace Van Patten and Jackson White, who first met in college back in 2008. The story jumps around a lot – it doesn’t follow their relationship chronologically, but instead shows their eight years together in a really interesting, non-linear way.

The romance drama has been a hit with both audiences and critics. Currently, 87% of critics on Rotten Tomatoes have given it a positive review. Season one earned a score of 75%, and season three achieved a perfect 100% rating.

According to a review in Decider, watching the show Tell Me Lies is a strangely compelling experience, much like being caught up in the complicated relationship between the characters Lucy and Stephen. The reviewer admitted it’s not necessarily a good thing to watch, but it’s undeniably captivating – a clear case of the heart wanting what it wants.

According to Collider, Tell Me Lies continues to be a captivating and dramatically messy show. The Fiction Department praised it as ‘the best kind of feel-bad show’.

Bastards has no release date, while Tell Me Lies streams on Hulu and Disney+.
