DJ Stelio Mitsos, 56, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack and was buried on Tuesday.
DJ Stelio, a well-known music lover in Adelaide, passed away at his home in Salisbury on September 13th, according to The Advertiser.
It was so heartbreaking to say goodbye to him this week at St. Dimitrios Church in Salisbury Plain. The church was packed – hundreds of us came to pay our respects, and of course, his beloved wife, Priscilla, was there too. It was a beautiful, but incredibly sad, farewell.
Priscilla shared memories of her happy marriage with Mitsos, saying it was a strong partnership. She playfully added that she planned to get a cat and name it after him.
She described their marriage as a deeply loving relationship, filled with both joy and conflict, and marked by both wonderful and challenging moments. Despite everything, they always supported each other, she wrote.
Stelios always went above and beyond to make me happy, no matter how difficult things got. He was always willing to do anything I asked, except for one thing: getting a cat!
Priscilla and Mitsos were married for 22 years, starting in 2003, and she often said their life together was anything but dull.
It felt so complete, so meaningful, so genuine. I’ll miss him terribly – more than I can ever express. He’s been my everything, the only person I’ve ever needed.
Priscilla shared that she would always cherish the wonderful memories they created, and that Mitsos’s music would keep his spirit alive.
‘I will now get the cat that I always wanted and name it Stelio,’ she then joked.
The funeral started with a priest swinging a censer, filling the church with the scent of incense as hymns were sung.
Mitsos’s wife and family followed closely behind his casket. A pair of black headphones were placed inside with him, a tribute to his passion for music.
People left dozens of wreaths and flowers outside the church, along with heartfelt messages of love and sadness. Inside, mourners lit candles and offered prayers.
Mitsos spent decades performing his sets as DJ Stelio at weddings, parties and sold-out shows.

In 2022, he started Glamour Entertainment to showcase Greek performers in Adelaide.
Mitsos is survived by his wife Priscilla, with the couple choosing not to have children.
After Mitsos passed away, people shared heartwarming stories and memories of him on social media, remembering his involvement in local events.
One person shared, “Thank you, Stelio, for everything you did for the Greek community in South Australia. You were a true icon and will be deeply missed.”
