CounterSide development winds down as Head Producer steps down, future updates halted from April 29, 2026

Story Highlights

  • CounterSide announces ending new content updates following April 29, 2026.
  • The decision was announced following Head PD Hyunsoo Kim stepping down.
  • Main story likely remains incomplete despite no official shutdown announcement yet.

The turn-based RPG CounterSide, developed by STUDIOBSIDE, will no longer receive updates. Development has officially ended following the departure of the Head Producer, with the final update scheduled for April 29, 2026.

CounterSide is likely to end service with its main story incomplete

I was really surprised to read the latest news! Apparently, Head PD Hyunsoo Kim is leaving, which is a huge shift for the game. And unfortunately, it sounds like they won’t be releasing any more new content updates after the ones we got in April. It’s a bit sad, but I wish him all the best!

Just to clarify, the game’s story and new content will end after Main Stream Episode 15 on April 22nd and the final Awakened employee event on April 29, 2026. While some regularly scheduled content will be removed, popular modes like Gauntlet, Danger Close, Exclusive Gear Challenge, and World Map Raid will still be available.

The game isn’t ending right away. It’s going into a maintenance period where you’ll still see familiar content. However, the main story won’t be continued, so the overall narrative will likely remain unfinished.

If you’ve been playing since the game launched worldwide in 2022, you’re likely disappointed by this news. CounterSide gained a dedicated fanbase thanks to its unique blend of fantasy stories, beautifully animated characters, and engaging battles. No one expected updates to stop, so this is understandably frustrating.

However, it’s important to remember that the game isn’t being completely shut down yet. The servers are still active, so players can continue playing for the time being.

Generally, once a game is no longer updated with new content, it eventually fades away. We saw this happen with COD Warzone Mobile, which was removed from app stores in 2025 and completely shut down on April 17, 2026.

The game is currently still available for download on app stores and is expected to remain there. If you’re interested in checking out more games from STUDIOBSIDE, their new title, StarSavior, is a great place to start.
