HoYoverse announced that Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8, called ‘New: Eridan Sunset,’ will be released on May 6, 2026. This update concludes Season 2 and introduces two new powerful characters (S-Rank Agents), a new A-Rank character named Bangboo, a continuation of the story, new events, and improvements to the game’s systems.

Zenless Zone Zero version 2.8 update brings Season 2 finale story

Version 2.8 concludes the current story arc with a new plot focused on a puzzling character named Ramiel. Several groups within the Outer Ring are all pursuing Ramiel, and Promeia, who previously defeated Krampus, joins forces with you – Starlight Billy and Cissia – to discover Ramiel’s motives and true identity.

ZZZ Version 2.8 update will feature two new S-tier agents

The Zenless Zone Zero Version 2.8 update introduces two new, incredibly strong characters, known as S-Rank agents. Here’s a look at who they are:

1. Promeia

Promeia is a top-tier agent specializing in Ice anomalies. She gains power by absorbing something called ‘Trial by Cold,’ which lets her inflict a strong effect called ‘Abloom’ on enemies. When she’s in ‘Bound Absolution’ – activated by her Special Attack – she’ll automatically dodge attacks perfectly. Plus, teaming her up with other anomaly or support agents will increase the team’s overall Abloom damage.

2. Starlight – Billy

Joining the team is Starlight – Billy, a powerful agent specializing in physical attacks. He’s an enhanced version of Billy and rides a combat motorcycle. Starlight’s damage increases as your health does, and he can also heal himself. His Ultimate ability unleashes a devastating flying kick, dealing massive damage to enemies.

3. New Bangboo – Booltergeist

A new powerful hero, Booltergeist, has joined the battle! This A-Rank character can float and fire lasers at opponents. Plus, Booltergeist hits even harder when paired with specific teammates.

Along with these two, ZZZ Version 2.8 also brings

New combat mechanics and enemy additions

Update 2.8 will introduce a new enemy type and a new combat feature called Vortex. Here’s what you can expect:

New Wind attribute enemy type.
New Vortex mechanic that replaces Disorder when other Attribute Anomalies are applied by enemies inflicted by this Wind Attribute Anomaly.
It deals AoE anomaly damage that matches the corresponding element.

ZZZ Version 2.8 brings new events, rewards, and optimizations

As with past updates, we have a variety of events and activities planned, including:

Operation: Save Bootopia Event: You can explore the Bangboo resort as Eous, rescue trapped Bangboos, and collect rewards. By clearing this event, you can unlock the new Bangboo, Booltergeist, and its Bangboo core for free.
Ultimate Verdict Trial Event: You can fight alongside the new agent, Promeia, and also take part in special activities for Polychrome rewards.
