With video game movies becoming increasingly popular in Hollywood, a Battlefield movie is now in the works. The project has already secured two major stars, hinting at the potential for a very successful film.
Christopher McQuarrie, the director behind the Mission: Impossible films, is teaming up with Michael B. Jordan, who won an Oscar, to create a movie based on the popular video game Battlefield, which was a best-seller in 2025. McQuarrie will write and direct the film, and also produce it. Jordan will also be a producer, and is likely to star, if his schedule allows.
This week, the highly anticipated Battlefield movie was presented to several studios and streaming services, including Apple and Sony. It’s uncertain whether Netflix was among those considered, as the plan is currently for a wide release in theaters. Regardless, the movie is predicted to generate a major bidding war due to the franchise’s strong fanbase and the involvement of prominent actors. The project is also likely to be quite costly, with expenses including both securing the rights to the Battlefield property and paying for top talent.
