Following the success of shows like 1883, 1923, and Marshals, a new series is coming to Paramount+ this year. The show begins right after the dramatic conclusion of Yellowstone. Beth Dutton avenged her father, John’s, death by stabbing her brother, Jamie, and ultimately, the Yellowstone ranch was returned to the Broken Rock tribe.

Kayce sold the ranch, even though he lost money on the deal, because he didn’t want it to be taken over by a corporation. At the same time, Beth and Rip started building a new life, one that the Dutton family will now follow. While the show Yellowstone moved the action to a new ranch located 40 miles west of Dillon, Montana, the Dutton Ranch itself feels familiar – and still faces many of the same challenges.

What Is Dutton Ranch About?

In this installment, characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler move their operations from Montana to South Texas. Items seen in the show’s trailer were later found scattered, hinting at events from the original series.

The new series follows Beth and Rip as they build a life on their ranch, but trouble arrives in the form of a competing ranch and the challenges of Texas politics – and that’s what makes it so captivating. The show’s description reveals Beth and Rip will be battling to protect their 7,000-acre ranch and guide young Carter to become a strong man.

Unlike the original series, Beth will be stepping into a leadership role at the ranch instead of simply carrying out her father’s orders. This change will likely force her to adapt, as she’ll now be responsible for dealing with the consequences of her actions herself. Beth’s fierce personality, combined with Rip’s strong moral compass, creates a dynamic balance and plenty of drama in this exciting modern Western.

Though the show features characters from Taylor Sheridan’s world, Dutton Ranch is created and led by Chad Feehan.

Who Stars in Paramount’s Dutton Ranch?

Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser are back as Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler in the latest season of Dutton Ranch. Finn Little will also return as Carter, and his character is expected to play a significant role, especially in the dynamic between Beth and Rip.

It’s become common for the show to cast musicians, and Feehan is continuing that tradition. Country singer Morgan Wade, who has toured with major artists like Chris Stapleton and Alanis Morissette, will play Carol, a bartender in the Texas town of Rio Paloma. Her first album, Reckless, was named the best Americana album of 2021 by Billboard magazine. Other musicians, including Ryan Bingham and Lainey Wilson, have also appeared on Yellowstone as characters Walker and Abby.

I’m so excited to hear Annette Bening and Ed Harris are joining the cast of the show! They’ll be playing Beulah Jackson and Everett McKinney, and I think they’ll be amazing additions. Plus, we’ve got Jai Courtney, Juan Pablo Raba, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, and Natalie Alyn Lind rounding out an already fantastic group of actors. I can’t wait to see them all in action at the Dutton Ranch!

When Will Dutton Ranch Premiere?

As a huge fan of westerns, I’m really excited for the new series! It’s set to premiere on the Paramount Network on May 15, 2026, with the first two episodes shown back-to-back. After that, it’ll be one episode a week. It makes sense we’re seeing so many spin-offs of Yellowstone – it proves how popular neo-westerns are becoming again!

This approach also works well for the Yellowstone Universe because releasing episodes over time creates excitement and keeps viewers engaged. The unpredictable endings encourage audiences to really appreciate each installment as it comes out.

Dutton Ranch is scheduled to have 9 episodes, with the finale set to air on Jul 3, 2026.
