KIIS FM has brought on Abbie Chatfield to help replace Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson after their departure.

I was so excited to read on News.com.au that my favorite, though sometimes controversial, influencer is taking over the breakfast slot on KIIS FM starting Monday! I can’t wait to tune in!

She’ll be working with Mike Etheridge, known as Mike E, and newsreader Brooklyn Ross, who have been keeping things going on the radio since The Kyle & Jackie O Show ended in March.

Abbie will only be with the show for a week as a guest co-host. ARN is still looking for permanent replacements for its previous main hosting pair.

The network hasn’t revealed any plans for replacing Kyle and Jackie, especially while they’re dealing with legal issues related to claims of unfair dismissal.

According to sources, discussions with potential candidates to fill the position are already progressing smoothly.

Abbie is testing out the role after Georgie Tunny, a well-known personality from Channel Ten, co-hosted the KIIS breakfast show with Mike E earlier this week.

KIIS executives are very pleased with the latest radio ratings, according to a recent report. The results, released this week by GfK, show encouraging trends.

The show’s audience increased by 37,000 listeners in Sydney and Melbourne compared to the last ratings released in March.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the show’s numbers closely, and I’m thrilled to share that a fantastic 673,000 people listened in over the past couple of months – specifically between February 8th and April 4th. That’s a really strong audience!

However, a survey conducted in March, looking at listenership between January 18th and February 28th, showed the show had 636,000 listeners.

Melbourne also saw a rise in listeners, growing from 403,000 to 440,000 between the surveys.

It’s noteworthy that Abbie is being considered for a role at KIIS, considering her previously difficult experiences with the station.

In 2022, Abbie had a public disagreement with Kyle and guest host Brittany Hockley. It started when Abbie felt they were unfairly criticizing her dating life, specifically her relationship with rapper Yung Gravy.

What does Abbie Chatfield’s on-air stint say about the future of Australian breakfast radio?

What’s your view?

Despite patching things up over the incident, Abbie has been a vocal critic of the show

I was really shocked when I read Abbie’s interview in the Daily Telegraph last year. She said she couldn’t understand how Kyle was still getting sponsors after some pretty awful things he said about the Paralympics – it seemed like he should have faced some consequences for those remarks, but he hasn’t.

Abbie, who previously appeared on The Bachelor, is now a successful podcast host. She currently hosts the popular show, It’s A Lot.

The podcast was released on LiSTNR, a platform owned by Southern Cross Austereo (SCA), a competitor to ARN.

Just recently, Abbie announced she’s starting her own podcast company. She signed a multi-year agreement with Acast, the platform where her podcast, ‘It’s A Lot,’ first launched.

She began her podcasting adventure in 2019 using Acast, starting with no listeners, a simple home recording setup, and limited editing experience. She expressed her excitement about collaborating again in a recent statement.

This is a major step forward for my podcast. I’m now fully independent, handling all production myself, and partnering with Acast for advertising sales.

‘This is a perfect partnership for my next endeavour and I’m honoured to re-join the Acast family.’

Abbie Chatfield hosted the radio show Hot Nights With Abbie Chatfield on SCA from January 2022 to August 2023, adding radio experience to her background.

While Kyle and Jackie are still fighting ARN in court, reports surfaced this week that Kyle was discussing a possible return to radio with the network, as their $100 million legal dispute moves closer to a potential resolution.

According to a source who spoke with news.com.au, the situation is expected to resolve itself within two or three weeks.

Sources say Kyle will return to his show and isn’t holding any grudges after the public disagreement with Jackie that led to him being removed from his popular program.

According to a source, Kyle, 54, sees this as simply a business matter. It’s unclear whether he’d be willing to accept a contract worth less than the $10 million per year he previously earned before the show ended.
