After a 20-year wait, a sequel to the popular 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada is coming to theaters! Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep will return as Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly in the new movie, directed by David Frankel.
The movie follows Miranda as she tries to keep Runway magazine successful in today’s changing media world, and Andy comes back to help her solve the problems they’re facing.
Miranda will get support from her trusted longtime assistant, Nigel (Stanley Tucci), and Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt), who used to work for her. Emily is now a successful executive at a major luxury brand and can provide the financial backing to keep Runway magazine in business.

I was at the European premiere, and director David Frankel told Digital Spy that it was crazy it took twenty years to finally make this sequel, especially considering how much everyone loved the first movie!
With the movie getting a lot of attention right now, people keep asking us why it took two decades to make and why we decided to release it now, he explained.
What to Read Next
To be honest, for nearly twenty years, we struggled to come up with a truly compelling concept. We wouldn’t even consider approaching someone like Meryl Streep with something we didn’t fully believe in – and who would?
He went on to explain that a couple of years prior, Aline Brosh McKenna – his creative partner and a remarkably talented screenwriter for both movies – had written a lot of memorable lines, including a well-known speech about a lovely blue color.
As a huge fan of the original, I was so excited when Aline mentioned how much fashion and journalism have changed since we first saw the movie in 2005. It got me thinking – wouldn’t it be amazing to see these characters we already adore trying to navigate this totally different, more complicated world now?

It’s a little strange being back, but I’m so happy we waited to do this. Reuniting with everyone from the movie – the cast and crew – has been wonderful.
In addition to the original actors, The Devil Wears Prada 2 features several new faces, such as Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, and Simone Ashley, known for her role in Bridgerton.
The cast also includes Tracie Thoms, Tibor Feldman, Patrick Brammall, Caleb Hearon, and Helen J Shen.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is released in cinemas on 1 May.
The latest issue of Living Legends, a beautifully illustrated 100-page tribute to Sir David Attenborough, is now available! You can purchase it at newsstands or online.
