Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli admits his meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ended in disaster – and reveals he PAID to meet the Sussexes

Michael Wipfli, known as ‘Wippa,’ shared a story about a slightly uncomfortable meeting he had with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle when they visited Australia.

I was so excited to hear on Wippa’s radio show this week that he and his wife, Lisa, got invited to a really special event! It was organized by Nexus Australia, and he was telling Fitzy and Kate all about it. It sounds amazing!

He explained that he and Lisa were among the 50 guests at the event. He gave a presentation about ’36 Months,’ a social media campaign he leads, which advocates for raising the minimum age for social media use.

Wippa explained that Harry and Meghan were informed about the campaign in advance and were eager to discuss it with him.

He said he was pleased they’d been given information about the project’s three-year plan and were interested in discussing it more.

Two of their team members came before the main group, and one mentioned Harry wanted to discuss the 36-month plan.

Wippa was really impressed with Harry and Meghan’s speaking at the event, and he even had a chance to meet Harry privately afterwards.

Wippa said it felt like the person he met had been told about him beforehand, as if his team had prepared him for the meeting.

Oh my gosh, he was SO lovely! He just said, “Hey mate, great to meet you,” and I completely lost it for a second, but I managed to squeak out, “Harry, how are you?” It was the best moment of my life!

Fitzy and Kate were a little surprised by how casually Wippa greeted them, but he explained it was okay given the situation.

However, he admitted to possibly overstepping the mark when he asked Harry for his phone number.

He explained that he hadn’t directly asked for her number, but it may have seemed that way. He’d been looking at his phone and suggested they continue chatting, which could have been misinterpreted as him asking, “What’s your number?”

When he noticed me, he gestured to his assistant – or whoever she was – and asked if we could exchange contact information so we could continue the conversation.

Wippa mentioned that even though he and Harry swapped numbers, Harry hasn’t been in touch since their quick conversation.

‘I think they loved meeting me, I think we got on really well,’ he said.

I reached out to the contact he provided by email, but I haven’t heard back. I’ve sent three emails over the past three days, and I’m still hoping for a response soon.

Okay, so it wasn’t just me! Apparently, everyone was completely mesmerized by Meghan – she just owned that stage, you know? She’s so bubbly and radiant, honestly, Wippa and I just… we couldn’t help ourselves! We both totally leaned in and gave the Duchess a little kiss. It just happened! I swear, she has this effect on people. I’m not even ashamed to admit it!

‘She was so warm and embracing,’ Wippa swooned. ‘It was a hug and a kiss goodbye.’

Just like with Harry, Kate and Fitzy were surprised by how comfortable Wippa seemed with Meghan.

‘Did you kiss her?’ Kate asked and, when Wippa replied in the affirmative, Fitzy also chimed in.

‘That’s not protocol, mate,’ he said.

‘That’s going outside the square. That’s like touching Vladimir Putin on the shoulder.’

Wippa brushed off the suggestions, claiming there was no awkwardness whatsoever.

‘She was walking out the door, Lisa gave her a hug and they said goodbye,’ he said.

Meghan came over to greet me with a hug, and I simply kissed her on the cheek – just as I would with anyone else.

I was so surprised to hear Wippa mention that he and Lisa actually paid to be at the same event as Harry and Meghan! I mean, they were invited guests, you’d think that would be enough, but apparently not. It’s just wild to me that they had to pay on top of everything else!

‘When you say invited, do you mean invited but you bought a ticket?’ Kate asked.

‘I made a donation,’ Wippa explained.

I received an invitation to an event with Harry and Meghan, which included around 50 guests, and it required a donation to attend.
