Marilyn Manson sparks controversy as he appears at Black Sabbath’s farewell show and pays tribute to Ozzy Osbourne in video message – after his UK gig was axed amid backlash
On Saturday night, Marilyn Manson stirred up debate by making an appearance at Black Sabbath’s final concert, Back to The Beginning.
In the opening act, the 56-year-old rock legend appeared in a video greeting during the concert and honored his longtime friend, Ozzy Osbourne, at his last-ever performance.
In the prerecorded video, he enthusiastically expressed: “I am truly delighted to be part of this video, and I want to offer my congratulations and express my deep affection for you, Ozzy,” as depicted in the online clips.
Nevertheless, his participation sparked disapproval among some fans, as his scheduled performance at the Brighton Centre in October was subsequently cancelled due to pressure from activists.
Brian Warner, better known as Manson, faced accusations from around a dozen women regarding acts of sexual abuse, rape, and torture. However, he firmly maintains his innocence in response to these allegations.
In January, U.S. prosecutors decided not to bring charges against Marilyn because there wasn’t enough proof after a four-year investigation.

In spite of this, some fans remained dissatisfied with Manson’s video message played at Villa Park and expressed their anger on the platform that was once called Twitter.
Comments included: ‘F*** Marilyn Manson, he’s a piece of s***’; ‘Ew Marilyn Manson go away’;
It’s unfortunate that he performed, given how impressive the rest of the Black Sabbath concert was. (Marilyn Manson was the speaker at the Black Sabbath farewell event.)
‘Marilyn Manson on the Black Sabbath stream f*** off.’
TopMob has contacted Marilyn’s representatives for comment.
On Saturday evening, Ozzy will be giving his last-ever live performance, taking into account his deteriorating health. This show, where other prominent rock bands will also perform, is also scheduled to be broadcast online.
It was revealed last month that the concert scheduled for Brighton on October 29, which marked the start of Manson’s UK tour, was called off following a strong public reaction against it.
Fans got a notification from Ticketmaster stating that the event they were expecting has been called off, and it appears that the performance is no longer listed on Manson’s site as well.

Instead, Manson’s tour, named “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1,” will start in Bournemouth on October 31, with an additional four stops across the UK to follow.
The concert’s cancellation occurred after an open appeal was made to Brighton and Hove City Council, requesting them to cancel it.
Green Party MP Sian Berry expressed that “numerous individuals who are survivors, as well as organizations that assist them, in Brighton and Hove, might harbor grave apprehensions about this reservation and its potential effects on others touring the city center, local residents, and the broader community.
The letter was endorsed by both the students’ union at the University of Sussex as well as certain victim advocacy organizations.
Berry stated that it’s the council’s duty to intervene when there’s potential for unfair treatment, bullying, or retaliation.
As reported by The Guardian, Manson’s followers contended that the ruling violated free speech rights since the singer himself hasn’t been convicted for the accusations leveled against him.
In the month of January, the District Attorney’s office in Los Angeles, headed by Nathan Hochman, declared they would not initiate any legal action against Manson.
In his words, it was established that claims of domestic violence exceed the legal timeframe for prosecution, and we find it difficult to establish charges of sexual assault with certainty.

We appreciate and admire the bravery and tenacity shown by those women who stepped up to file complaints and disclose their ordeals. We express our gratitude for their collaboration and understanding throughout the inquiry process.
‘Though we can’t file charges in this specific case, we acknowledge that the passionate activism of these women has significantly increased public understanding about the hurdles encountered by victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.’
According to DailyMail.com, Howard King, legal representative for Brian Warner, stated, “We’re delighted that, following an extensive and meticulous examination of all relevant evidence, the District Attorney concurs with our initial belief: Brian Warner is not guilty.
Manson settled lawsuits by two women including Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco in 2023.
Bianco spoke out after the announcement, saying she was ‘deeply disappointed but not surprised’.
For nearly a year and a half, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department scrutinized Manson’s activities. In 2022, they handed their findings to the prosecutors.
Previously, his former girlfriend and actress, Evan Rachel Wood, made allegations against him concerning sexual misconduct. However, she did not take legal action, and Manson has strongly denied these accusations.

Manson is suing Wood and her companion, Illma Gore, for defamation, claiming the accusations of malicious and false sexual misconduct severely damaged his thriving music, television, and film career.
In March 2022, Manson initiated a lawsuit against the Westworld actress before the premiere of her HBO documentary titled Phoenix Rising: Don’t Fall.
In the course of their relationship from 2006 to 2010, Wood claimed that Manson, whom she was once engaged to, subjected her to both sexual abuse and emotional torment as documented in a two-part film.
Following the broadcast of the documentary, more than 12 women came forward with accusations of abuse against Manson, leading to additional charges against him.
In August of the previous year, certain aspects of Manson’s lawsuit were dismissed by a judge. Later, in November, Manson chose to abandon the case altogether.
