Holly Ramsay and her husband, Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, publicly celebrated Adam’s sister Bethany’s birthday on Wednesday. This came shortly after they didn’t acknowledge Adam’s grandmother’s 84th birthday.
Thirty-one-year-old athlete Adam has been estranged from his parents, Caroline and Mark, since it became public in November that he had excluded them from his wedding to Holly in December.
Oh my gosh, you guys, it’s just so sad! Adam’s wedding last year? Only his sister, Bethany, showed up from his family! Can you believe it? And she even admitted she feels torn – she loves Adam, but she’s also stuck trying to be loyal to their parents. It’s all so complicated! I just read the whole interview and it’s heartbreaking. You have to read it to understand everything!
Okay, so even though everything happened, Michael and his wife still sent Bethany birthday wishes! Adam actually posted a photo of them all together at some party – it was so sweet, and I immediately screenshotted it, obviously. I just can’t get over how they still acknowledge her, it’s… everything!
Adam captioned the post: ‘Happy Birthday sister.’
Holly posted some photos and wished her sister-in-law, Bethany Peaty, a happy birthday, writing, ‘Happy birthday to the best sister-in-law! @b_peaty.’
Adam reportedly upset his grandmother, Mavis Williams, leaving her feeling confused and heartbroken, after allegedly ignoring her on her 84th birthday earlier this month.
Her birthday came just days after publicly marking Holly Ramsay’s brother Oscar turning seven.
Despite a continuing family rift, the athlete didn’t mention his grandmother, who became known as ‘Olympic Nan’ for her enthusiastic support of him when he won at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
Mavis, Adam’s maternal grandmother, celebrated the day peacefully at home with her daughter and Adam’s mother, Caroline.
According to a source who spoke with the Daily Mail, Adam didn’t acknowledge his grandmother’s birthday in any way – no card, gift, or even a simple text message.
Honestly, it’s a bit disheartening when I see people prioritizing social media greetings for others – like wishing Holly’s brother a happy birthday five days late – while completely forgetting about their own family, like a grandmother. It just feels…off, you know? A little attention to the people who truly matter should always come first.
A source close to the situation expressed disbelief, questioning how someone could overlook the unwavering love and support of their 84-year-old grandmother, who is understandably upset and confused by the situation. It’s a really sad situation, especially considering everything she’s done for him.
He and Holly have manipulated Caroline’s mother, whom they playfully call ‘Olympic Nan.’ They’ve completely ignored her on special occasions – no Christmas card, no birthday message, just complete silence.
Mavis became an internet sensation after cheering on Adam at the 2021 Olympics, where he won two gold medals. The hashtag #OlympicNan quickly became popular on X (formerly Twitter) because of her enthusiastic support.
She proudly states in her account bio that she’s the grandmother of a world champion breaststroker, but hasn’t posted anything since 2024.
Even though he forgot to wish his grandmother a happy birthday, Adam recently posted a heartwarming birthday message for his seven-year-old brother-in-law, Oscar.
Adam married Holly, the 26-year-old daughter of a famous TV chef, in December at Bath Abbey. The wedding took place during a family dispute, leading to Adam’s mother being uninvited and only his sister Bethany attending from his family.
Earlier this year, Gordon Ramsay released a six-part documentary series. It chronicles his experience launching new restaurants in London’s Bishopsgate and includes a quick glimpse of his son Adam and daughter-in-law Holly’s engagement celebration.
Before the documentary came out, Caroline asked to be cut from the film, even though she only appeared briefly in one scene.
Okay, seriously, I’m losing it! Gordon just shared this and it’s the sweetest thing ever. Apparently, Adam now calls him ‘Dad’! He said Adam texted him – like, casually, ‘Hey dad, what have you got?’ and then ‘Hey dad, are you around later?’ – and Gordon was just completely blown away! ‘Oh my God,’ he said! I mean, can you imagine?! It’s incredible, honestly. I’m not crying, you’re crying!
