Natalie Bassingthwaighte shared a surprisingly intimate detail about her relationship with her fiancé, Pip Loth.
Natalie Imbruglia, the singer known for “Rogue Traders,” discussed her relationship with Pip on the Hit Network’s drive show with Tommy Little and Carrie Bickmore on Tuesday. The conversation quickly shifted to focus on her romance.
When Carrie asked Natalie what she loved most about her partner, Pip, the actress visibly became flustered and delighted.
She explained that she finally feels understood and truly listened to. She believes Pip understands her better than she understands herself.
It’s genuinely lovely and attractive. I get a lot of attention, especially from women, and it’s wonderful to be seen as sweet, caring, kind, and desirable.
When Carrie asked if the sex was ‘different’ with Pip, Natalie replied with an emphatic: ‘Yes’.
Natalie surprised Carrie and Tommy by sharing a very personal story about her relationship with Pip.
She described their first time being intimate, saying it lasted around six or seven hours. She was genuinely surprised by how good it was, and even wondered if that length of time was typical.
Okay, let’s be real. We’ve all been there. I’m hearing from Natalie that she was feeling incredibly blissful after intimacy, and honestly, it led to a bit of a driving oopsie. It just goes to show you, even amazing moments need a little grounding in reality! Sometimes, you need to check back in with the practical stuff, even when you’re feeling fantastic.
Natalie explained that she left feeling intensely shaken, and immediately told anyone nearby, “Don’t touch me.” She was still very upset at the time.
‘I went to get my pawpaw and I’m putting it on my lips and my fingers are shaking.
‘I’m driving and my lips felt funny – I had Betadine all over my mouth, it wasn’t lip balm.’
Natalie’s confession clearly surprised Tommy, who responded with a bit of humor, saying, ‘Seven hours? I’d probably be exhausted just thinking about it!’
Natalie proposed to Pip during a romantic outing at Niagara Falls in Canada in October.
The happy couple announced the news with a very sweet Instagram video on Saturday morning.
The video started with a clip of Noah Reid, a Canadian actor and singer, performing a cover of Tina Turner’s song, “Simply The Best,” while on stage.
He dedicated the song to Natalie and Pip, who had just gotten engaged hours earlier.
The video then showed Natalie proposing, starting with Pip receiving a note from a woman typing on a typewriter.
Natalie knelt down, beaming and laughing with Pip as she presented the engagement ring she’d bought.
Pip joyfully agreed, and the two shared a loving kiss as people walked by.
Pip excitedly revealed at the end of her video that she’s engaged! ‘Actually, I was the one who got proposed to!’ she shared, showing off her new, thick silver ring.
In an advance excerpt from her memoir, Love Like This, the star revealed how she went from being heartbroken after her divorce from Cameron McGlinchey to unexpectedly getting engaged. She admitted she had previously become opposed to marriage after the split.
The singer explained that the emotional pain from her divorce from a former bandmate, which finalized in 2023 after twelve years together, continued to affect her for a long time after they split up.
By 2024, she remained firm in her position, even after publicly revealing her relationship with her new partner, Pip Loth, in November 2023.
Her firm position started to weaken after a private conversation with Pip, which completely changed how she viewed marriage.
‘You know, it wasn’t even legal for me to get married until 2017,’ Natalie revealed Pip told her.
The comment, referencing Australia’s Marriage Law Postal Survey, struck a nerve.
It feels a little foolish now that I didn’t realize how lucky I was to have found love and gotten married – not just once, but twice! That’s what I was thinking when I wrote that, just how much of a gift it all is.
You know, working with people, I’ve learned that things like marriage aren’t always about what they seem on the surface. I realized, through Natalie’s experience with Pip, that for him, it wasn’t about following a tradition – it represented something much more profound and personal.
The more I learned from Pip, the clearer it became that marriage for them wasn’t about fitting in. It was about finally being recognized and valued after years of feeling invisible and excluded.
