In Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2, HoYoverse is launching Phase 1 and Phase 2 banners. These banners will include two new characters, Silver Wolf Lv 999 and The Dahlia, alongside returning favorites Castorice, Firefly, Evanesca, Tribble, Feixiao, and Sunday.
I’ll be evaluating each character’s abilities and how well they perform in the updated game, and then I’ll recommend which one you should try to unlock. The character banners will become available on April 22nd, 2026, and will be available until June 2nd, 2026.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 Phase 1 Banners
The first banner will be available starting April 22nd, 2026, and will run until May 12th, 2026. It will feature Silver Wolf Lv 999, The Dahlia, Castorice, and Firefly. While each character is valuable, some are more beneficial for both short-term and long-term gameplay. Read on for a detailed look to help you choose.
1. Silver Wolf Lv 999
Okay, so I’ve been checking out Silver Wolf, and she’s a seriously powerful new character in Honkai: Star Rail! She’s a 5-star Imaginary type, and she’s all about dealing damage – a true DPS character. What’s really cool is how she uses her Ultimate to boost her skills and just blast enemies with massive area-of-effect damage. She’s definitely a character you’ll want on your team if you’re looking for some heavy firepower.
She focuses on building up ‘Gain Punchline’ bonuses, which translate into increased MMR. Once her MMR is high enough, she activates her ultimate ability, entering a powerful ‘Godmode Player’ state and rapidly unleashing enhanced basic attacks for significant damage.
Silver Wolf boosts her critical hit rate and damage using a hidden mechanic. If you’re aiming to get Silver Wolf to the maximum level, check out our pre-farming guide. While she does a lot of damage, building up her hidden mechanic is required before you can reliably use her ultimate ability.
2. Dahlia
Dahlia is a powerful 5-Star Fire unit known as Fire Remembrance. She boosts her team’s ability to break enemy defenses and adds extra damage with follow-up attacks. This makes Fire teams more reliable, as they don’t need to wait for enemies to become vulnerable before dealing significant damage.
She focuses on boosting her team’s ability to exploit enemy weaknesses. Her main ability creates an area that makes it 50% easier to break enemy defenses, and even enemies who aren’t fully broken will take extra damage. Her ultimate ability further weakens enemies by reducing their defense by 18%.
3. Castorice
Castorice is a powerful 5-Star character who specializes in dealing damage (DPS). Her main ability involves summoning a strong dragon companion, Netherwing, to defeat enemies. She gains ‘Newbud points’ based on how much health your team loses – every point of damage taken by an ally gives her one Newbud point, up to a limit of 12% of their maximum health. Once she accumulates enough points, she summons Netherwing.
She sacrifices 30-40% of her allies’ health to empower her summoned Netherwing, boosting its damage and restoring its health. Additionally, when her summoned dragon’s health drops to 1, she heals her entire team.
Her ultimate ability creates an area that lowers all enemies’ resistance to elemental damage by 20%, making her summoned creatures hit harder. She does a lot of damage, but because her abilities cost health, it’s best to pair her with a character who can heal.
4. Firefly
Okay, so Firefly is a super powerful 5-Star character, and she’s all about dealing Fire damage. What’s really cool is her whole thing revolves around a dual-form mode – she basically trades HP to go into this crazy fast, boosted state. When she’s in that mode, she’s designed to inflict a ton of Break and Super Break damage. The more HP she uses, the more damage she does and the tougher she gets – it’s a really interesting risk-reward playstyle!
Who is worth pulling in Phase 1
This banner includes three damage dealers (DPS) – Firefly, Silverwolf Lv 999, and Castorice – and one support character, Dahlia. Dahlia is a great support for teams focused on breaking enemy weaknesses, but she doesn’t work well with all team types. If you’re looking for a support character who boosts a specific reaction, this might not be the banner for you. Currently, Silverwolf Lv 999 is the strongest Elation DPS available. Firefly works best with Dahlia as a support, while Castorice needs a lot of healing to be effective.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.2 Phase 2 Banners
Phase 2 banner will go live on the 12th of May, 2026, and will last until the 2nd of June, 2026.
1. Evanesca
Evanescia is a powerful new 5-Star character in Honkai: Star Rail who focuses on Physical damage. She’s a DPS character that can both deal significant damage and help the team by lowering enemy defenses. Her abilities work by converting Energy into Certified Banger, and vice versa, allowing her to consistently deal increased damage and use her ultimate ability often.
This character becomes more powerful as a fight goes on. If you’re thinking of battling Evanescia, be sure to check out our Evanescia Pre-Farm Guide.
2. Tribble
Tribbie is a powerful 5-Star character who deals Quantum Harmony damage and provides excellent support. She excels at attacking multiple enemies at once and then increasing the damage they take. Tribbie boosts her allies’ ability to break through enemy defenses and also makes enemies more vulnerable by increasing the damage they receive by 15%, all while dealing consistent damage herself.
3. Sunday
Sunday is a powerful 5-Star character in Honkai: Star Rail, known as Imaginary Harmony. He’s a Support unit who boosts critical damage, critical rate, and overall damage output. He also helps manage a team’s skill points, making him essential for teams focused on dealing a lot of damage quickly or those that use summons.
4. Feixiao
Feixiao is a powerful 5-Star character in Honkai: Star Rail who specializes in dealing high damage to a single enemy. As a Wind Hunt character, she consistently delivers strong attacks using abilities like Boltsunder and Waraxe. She’s particularly effective at breaking enemy defenses quickly, making her a valuable asset in combat.
Who is worth pulling in Phase 2
If you’re looking for a character focused on support, choose Sunday. If you want both support and damage, Tribble is a good choice. Between Feixiao and Evenescia, Evenescia is currently stronger as she can damage all enemies simultaneously. However, if you need a character who excels at quickly defeating a single enemy, Feixiao is the better option for your team.
