The Batman 2’s New Cast Addition Should Excite DC Movie Fans

The latest casting update for The Batman 2, also known as The Batman: Part II, is great news.

I’m really looking forward to The Batman 2! Warner Bros. is set to release it in theaters next year, and thankfully, Matt Reeves is returning to direct. Robert Pattinson will, of course, be back as our brooding Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne, which is fantastic news. It’s a sequel to the excellent 2022 film, and I’m excited to see what Reeves has planned.

Why is the new cast addition to The Batman 2 exciting?

Charles Dance is now part of the cast of The Batman 2, according to Deadline. Reports suggest he’ll play the father of Harvey Dent, who will be portrayed by Sebastian Stan. Scarlett Johansson will play Harvey Dent’s wife.

Though not as well-known as actors previously considered for the role – like Robert De Niro, Brad Pitt, and Stellan Skarsgård – Josh Dance seems like a great fit. Details about the plot are still secret, so we don’t know how important Charles Dent will be to the story or how he’ll interact with Harvey. However, it’s likely their relationship will be tense in some way.

Charles Dance often portrays imposing figures. He’s famous for playing the cold and controlling Tywin Lannister in Game of Thrones, and his character was a particularly harsh father. He recently took on a similar role in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, playing the strict father of Oscar Isaac’s Victor Frankenstein.

A bigger name actor, like Pitt or De Niro, might have overshadowed the story. But with Dance in the role, he can deliver a strong performance without pulling focus. He has the potential to be captivating in every scene he’s in, no matter how small.

The Batman 2 arrives on October 1, 2027.
