Bandai released its first card game in 2017. While it hasn’t reached the popularity of games like Pokémon or Magic: The Gathering, the Dragon Ball Super Card Game has remained successful and found its own dedicated player base. Even after a major update and relaunch as Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion Worlds, the original version, now known as Masters, continues to be played.
Like many trading card games, Dragon Ball Super Card Game cards come in different levels of rarity, ranging from common and uncommon to super rare, secret rare, and even god rare. The rarest cards can become quite valuable, making them even harder to find. This means that the most sought-after Dragon Ball Super cards are often very difficult to obtain.
Premium Anniversary Box 2023 – EX23-52
Despite some criticism, the Son Goku, Final Spirit Bomb card is highly sought after. It’s a special ‘Secret Rare’ card from the 2023 Anniversary Box. While the original version of this Secret Rare can be purchased for about $4, this alternate artwork version is much harder to find, as it has a low drop rate.
| Market Value | $199.99 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $178.99 |
| Median Listed Price | $189.50 |
The Final Spirit Bomb card is built for decks focused on “Pan: GT” cards, which does restrict how widely it can be used. Its strength increases by 5,000 for each “Pan: GT” card in play. It’s simple to use – you play it with three Energy, and it then brings up to four different “Pan: GT” cards into play. If its total Power reaches over 70,000, it can defeat all of your opponent’s Battle Cards, even if they have Barrier, and also deals 1 damage to your opponent’s Life.
Legend of the Dragon Balls – BT25-146
Majin Buu is a truly frightening villain in the Dragon Ball series. He can quickly heal from almost any injury, and his unpredictable nature makes him incredibly dangerous. A special card collection called SCR Buu, Unlimited Majin, features every different form of Buu in a single collectible card.
| Market Value | $239.84 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $299.99 |
| Median Listed Price | $325.00 |
Buu, Unlimited Majin costs eight Energy to play, requiring three Blue Energy. However, if you have a Blue leader or if your opponent has three or more Energy and a “Majin Buu” card in play, you can play it for just two Energy. Whenever Buu, Unlimited Majin attacks with Dual Attack, you get to look at your opponent’s hand, take two cards costing seven or less, and immediately use them in a combo. Plus, once per turn, if either of those comboed cards has a special ability (a “Keyword skill”), Buu can steal and use it himself. This card really captures the essence of Majin Buu’s powers!
Fighter’s Ambition – BT19-152
The Gohan Beast form made its first appearance in the Dragon Ball Super Card Game with the card “Son Gohan, Beyond the Ultimate.” This rare card, from the Fighter’s Ambition set, showcases stunning artwork inspired by Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. Playing this card is cost-effective—it only requires two Energy, and the player simply discards two cards from their hand to the bottom of their deck.
| Market Value | $239.97 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $175.00 |
| Median Listed Price | $235.98 |
When played, Beyond the Ultimate forces all opponents to return their Battle Cards and Unisons to their hand, even if those cards have Barrier. If the opponent then has more cards in their hand than you, they immediately lose 1 Life. Beyond the Ultimate can also switch up to two of your Battle Cards to Attack Mode and grant you the Critical skill – meaning any successful attack will cause your opponent to discard a Life instead of adding it to their hand.
Beyond Generations – BT24-139 (Collector Booster Gold)
The SSB Kaio-Ken Vegito card, a powerful warrior from the Beyond Generations set, is currently worth around $96.28. However, the alternate art version found in Collector Boosters is much harder to find and more valuable. This special version shows Vegito in a different pose, with images of Goku and Vegeta representing the fusion, rather than performing his signature Final Kamehameha attack.
| Market Value | $249.35 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $199.95 |
| Median Listed Price | $299.98 |
Blue Potara-Fusion Warrior Champion costs eight Energy to play, but this cost goes down if you have markers on your Z-Unison card. You need at least four Energy to take advantage of this reduction. Once in play, you can repeatedly send three cards from your hand to your Warp to switch Blue Potara-Fusion Warrior Champion back into Active mode – and you can do this every turn! This makes it a powerful card in the late game, as it has Triple Attack and a strong 40,000 power.
Critical Blow – BT22-137 (Tournament Promo)
It can be difficult to obtain promotional cards, particularly for collectors who don’t actively play the game. Cards awarded for strong tournament finishes, like top 16 at a Regional event, are especially challenging to acquire. Luckily, SS Gogeta, Sparking to Utmost Limit is a relatively inexpensive card, originally a Super Rare from the Critical Blow set, currently selling for around $0.27.
| Market Value | $261.83 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $248.68 |
| Median Listed Price | $249.33 |
Okay, so this Gogeta promo card is awesome – it shows him powering up his Stardust Breaker! What’s really cool is that once you play it, your opponent can’t get rid of it until their next turn. Plus, I can switch it to Active mode once per turn whenever I switch an Energy card to Active. When I do activate it, it instantly puts one of my opponent’s cards into Rest mode! Having abilities like Blocker and Aegis alongside it makes this even more powerful, but honestly, because it’s a limited tournament promo, it’s super hard to find and pretty expensive.
Tournament of Power – TB1-097
The Son Goku, The Awakened Power card, from the Tournament of Power set, is highly sought after by collectors. Like the Hope of Universe 7 card, it’s rare because it was very popular and the set itself wasn’t printed in large quantities. This card was the most desired collectible when the Dragon Ball Super Card Game first launched. It features Goku in his powerful Ultra Instinct form and boasts an impressive 45,000 Power, along with two fantastic abilities.
| Market Value | $364.87 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $275.00 |
| Median Listed Price | $429.99 |
Son Goku, The Awakened Power is a remarkably strong card due to its unique abilities. Its ‘Permanent’ trait ensures its attacks and skills can’t be canceled, and its ‘Victory Strike’ ability instantly wins the game if it deals damage to the opponent’s life total. This makes it a highly desirable card for collectors. However, a perfectly graded (PSA 10) version can cost over $800, which might be a steep price for some players.
Dawn of the Z-Legends – BT18-148
The Bardock, Origin of the Legend card is only the second ‘God Rare’ card ever created for Dragon Ball. It’s unusual because it doesn’t feature a main character like Goku or Vegeta; instead, it highlights Goku’s father, Bardock. While Bardock hasn’t been in many Dragon Ball stories, he’s become a popular character with fans, so any card featuring him is always a success.
| Market Value | $389.99 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $680.00 |
| Median Listed Price | $1,090.10 |
Beyond its special abilities, Bardock, Origin of the Legend is a strong card to use in battle. With a Power level of 40,000, it’s perfect for players who enjoy complex strategies. Its unique ability to affect your opponent’s cards while they’re inactive can dramatically change the game, potentially winning it in a single turn if played well.
Premium Anniversary Box 2024 – EX24-01
It’s hard to believe, but the Masters set of the Dragon Ball Super Card Game is celebrating its 8th anniversary! The years have passed quickly. Each year, Bandai releases a special Anniversary set with new cards that both improve existing popular strategies and create entirely new ways to play.
| Market Value | $400.00 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $849.99 |
| Median Listed Price | $849.99 |
The most sought-after card from last year’s 7th Anniversary set is an alternate artwork version of Son Goku, Story of a Forming Wish. This Goku is a special type of leader, known as a Wish Leader, which are uncommon now. This leader focuses on building a deck around cards with the ‘Power Wish’ trait and playing Z-Unison cards featuring ‘Shenron’. The resulting deck is decent for controlling the game and includes some interesting cards. However, the card’s real value comes from it being Goku and its rarity – it’s very hard to obtain.
Tournament of Power & Assault of the Saiyans

Signature cards are highly sought-after collectibles that have appeared in only two Dragon Ball card sets: Tournament of Power (May 2018) and Assault of the Saiyans (2019). They’re extremely rare because the Tournament of Power set was produced in limited quantities, and Signature Rares are notoriously difficult to find in the Assault of the Saiyans set.
The Tournament of Power and Assault of the Saiyan Signature cards both include characters like Future Trunks, Gohan, Hit, and Vegito. Each card has a printed signature that looks like it was signed by the English voice actor for that character – they aren’t real autographs, but they’re a cool design element. Bandai is likely to release these cards again in the future, and they’ll probably be very popular once more.
Critical Blow – BT22-138 (Tournament Promo)
Bursting Rage is a limited-edition card awarded to participants in the 2024 Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters Championship, both online and at regional events. Only 600 of these cards were created, and each one has a unique serial number. Currently valued at $437.50, the card numbered 1/600 – the very first one printed – is expected to be even more valuable, similar to how rare sports cards are collected.
| Market Value | $437.50 |
|---|---|
| Cheapest Listed Price | $690.00 |
| Median Listed Price | $733.50 |
Bursting Rage is a free-to-play Extra card that activates during battle. When played, you draw a card and can then place an Awakened Z-Leader on top of your Leader card, if it meets the requirements. This also gives your Leader an immediate 20,000 power boost for that battle. While a Z-Leader is equipped, opponents can’t attack you with Battle Cards or Unisons if their power is 25,000 or higher for the rest of the turn. The Z-Leader is then removed from the game at the end of the turn. A rare version of this card featuring Super Saiyan 2 Gohan instead of Goku is currently selling for around $67.49.
