You can currently watch Peter Capaldi’s acclaimed comedy-drama, Local Hero, for free on Channel 4 in the UK. However, it will only be available until May 18th, so don’t miss out!
The movie first came out in 1983 and was one of the early roles for the actor who later became famous as Doctor Who. He starred with well-known actors like Burt Lancaster, Peter Riegert, Jenny Seagrove, and another actor from Scotland, Denis Lawson.
The story centers around an oil executive dispatched from Texas to Scotland with the task of purchasing an entire village to make way for a new refinery. However, as he gets to know the villagers, he begins to question whether the project is truly beneficial.

Capaldi portrays Danny Oldsen, a cheerful oil company representative. A memorable part of the story involves his friendship with a mysterious woman named Marina, and much of their connection unfolds by the ocean.
