Marvel Studios is bringing Jessica Jones back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with an upcoming project, effectively giving the character a proper sequel. For years, fans wondered if Krysten Ritter would reprise her role, but Marvel hadn’t decided how to integrate the Defenders characters into the broader MCU. The upcoming 2025 debut of Daredevil: Born Again has now established a clear path forward for these characters within the larger narrative.
Krysten Ritter will return as Jessica Jones in the later episodes of Daredevil: Born Again. This marks her first appearance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe project since her Netflix series, Jessica Jones, concluded in 2019 – almost seven years ago.

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again will be the first continuation of the Jessica Jones story since that show ended. The finale of Jessica Jones saw Jessica stop her adopted sister, Trish Walker (played by Rachael Taylor), from committing murder, and she was subsequently locked up in the Raft, a high-security prison also holding other significant Marvel Cinematic Universe villains.

Jessica reconnects with Luke Cage, whom she hasn’t seen since The Defenders. He visits her office to offer advice regarding Trish. Drawing on his own past – specifically, his experience with sending his brother, Diamondback, to prison – Luke helps Jessica come to terms with her difficult decision.
After everything that happened with Trish, Jessica initially thought about leaving New York, but she ultimately decided to stay and continue working as a private investigator. Now back in charge of Alias Investigations, she’s still haunted by the mental effects of her past trauma – she can even hear Kilgrave’s voice in her head – but she’s determined to use her unique skills to help others and deliver her own brand of justice.
The story of Daredevil continues with Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, part of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 6. Starring Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Krysten Ritter, the new season finds Matt Murdock a fugitive from Wilson Fisk, as Fisk tightens his grip on the city with the help of a task force and a declaration of martial law. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 began streaming on Disney+ on March 24th.
Where Jessica Jones Will Go in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

I’m so excited for Jessica Jones to be back! Season 2 of Born Again is going to be huge – it’s Krysten Ritter’s first time playing Jessica in the MCU for seven years! Thankfully, I’ve heard the show is going to explain what she’s been up to, filling in all the gaps before she finally meets up with Daredevil again. It’s been a long time – they haven’t teamed up since The Defenders back in 2017!
Season 2 of Born Again will likely show Jessica joining forces with Matt and his growing resistance movement. Those involved with the show say they have great chemistry as a fighting duo, promising a thrilling reunion when their paths cross again next season.
Viewers will be curious to see how Jessica continues to cope with the trauma from her past, particularly her struggles with Kilgrave, her mother, and Trish Walker. It’s unclear if these characters will reappear, but the effects of those past conflicts will definitely shape her growth in the new season.
