Coachella 2026: Sabrina Carpenter brings out Madonna to perform new song ‘I Feel Free’

Coachella continued to deliver surprises during Weekend 2, with Sabrina Carpenter bringing out Madonna during her headlining performance on Friday night. The appearance of the pop legend sparked a huge reaction from the crowd.

During Carpenter’s performance of “Juno,” Madonna unexpectedly joined her on stage. Carpenter appeared in a dress inspired by Botticelli’s famous painting “The Birth of Venus,” and the two singers performed a duet of Madonna’s 1990 hit song “Vogue.” It felt like a passing of the torch between the artists.

After a well-loved hit, the artist released the cheerful new single “I Feel Free,” which is a preview of their upcoming album, “Confessions II,” scheduled for release on July 3rd.

I’m so excited for Weekend 2 of Coachella 2026! I’m really looking forward to seeing Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber, and Karol G back at the Empire Polo Club in Indio. And I heard there’s going to be a surprise performance by Kacey Musgraves – that’s awesome!

I was so excited when the singer announced their new album! It’s going to be a follow-up to “Confessions On A Dancefloor” from 2005, and they dropped a quick, 60-second teaser for the first single, “I Feel Free,” on April 15th. I’ve been waiting a long time for this!

Madonna recently performed the complete version of a new song at Coachella, creating a special moment exactly twenty years after she played the Sahara Tent in 2006 – and even wore the same boots and outfit! This performance comes ahead of the release of “Confessions II,” her first album since 2019’s “Madame X.”

From its start as a small desert festival, Coachella has grown into a huge influence on pop culture. Relive some of its most memorable moments, featuring performances by artists like Daft Punk and Beyoncé, and iconic sights like the famous Coachella astronaut.

Madonna joked to Carpenter, as the audience laughed, that it was likely the first time she’d ever performed with someone shorter than herself. She thanked him for the unique experience.
