Brooklyn Beckham mocked for calling rocket arugula in latest cooking video after snubbing estranged mum Victoria on her birthday: ‘He forgets he is not American!’

Brooklyn Beckham, who was born in Britain, is being teased online after he mistakenly called arugula “rocket” in a recent cooking video. “Rocket” is the term commonly used for the leafy green in the UK, while Americans call it arugula.

David and Victoria Beckham’s son, 27, caused upset among his Instagram followers on Thursday when he posted about making a salmon salad. This came after he reportedly ignored his mother’s 52nd birthday, and fans were critical of his post’s wording.

He shared a video with the caption ‘Sweet Jalapeño Salmon with Arugula Walnut Salad,’ but fans quickly corrected him, pointing out that he used the American term ‘arugula’ instead of the British term ‘rocket,’ and commenting that he should remember he isn’t American.

‘Arugula? Is it not Rocket?’: ‘Pretty sure its rocket, when you’re British’. 

People online quickly criticized Brooklyn’s recipe, calling it unoriginal and saying it didn’t require any real cooking talent. He had simply covered fish in his own brand of hot sauce.

Someone questioned the point of a post, saying everyone has done similar things. They sarcastically referred to it as ‘BTEC cooking’ and wondered if it was a joke, noting that tomorrow someone will demonstrate how to make beans on toast.

I was so touched to see Romeo lead all the birthday wishes for our amazing mum! He was the first of us kids to post online, and his message was just so sweet and heartfelt. It really made her 52nd birthday on Friday extra special.

Romeo shared a photo of himself with his mom and wrote a birthday message saying, ‘Happy Birthday, Mom! Love you so much, have a great day @victoriabeckham.’

He also posted a photo of them watching Sir David Attenborough at one of his childhood football games.

Victor Beckham recently celebrated his birthday, and while Cruz hasn’t publicly acknowledged it yet, his girlfriend Jackie Apostel shared a birthday message online, writing ‘Haaaaapy birthday @victoriabeckham’.

This follows Victoria’s statement that she expects her children to act well, especially considering the continuing conflict with Brooklyn.

The Spice Girl was asked about her son before talk turned to her youngest child Harper. 

Oh my gosh, you guys, her mom told me all about her! She said her daughter is just the sweetest, kindest girl – she really puts in the effort, you know? And her mom stressed how well-behaved she is, which I totally get – it’s SO important, and it really shines through! I just knew she was special.

Her comments came after Brooklyn publicly revealed details of a falling out with his family, alleging that Victoria had danced provocatively with him at his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz.

She directly spoke about the conflict, explaining that their children have always been their top priority and they’ve consistently strived to be good parents.

We’ve been in the public spotlight for over 30 years, and our main focus has always been to love and protect our children. That’s really all I want to share about this.

Victoria was questioned about whether she regretted involving her family – including her children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz, and Harper, plus her parents – in the public eye.

She explained to The Wall Street Journal that while she didn’t feel guilty, her parents had a difficult time adjusting to the sudden attention—like having paparazzi outside their home. She added that they’ve included their families in their journey every step of the way.

David and Victoria Beckham haven’t had contact with their son Brooklyn since May of last year. This followed Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, choosing not to attend David’s 50th birthday party.

Lawyers for Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz have instructed the Beckhams’ legal team to communicate only through them.

Just before Christmas, Brooklyn cut off contact with his parents on Instagram. Then, in January, he publicly shared a scathing six-page letter on the platform.

He said David and Victoria Beckham had a controlling influence over him for much of his life, attempted to create conflict between him and his wife, Nicola, and caused him humiliation when his mother danced in a way he considered inappropriate at his wedding.

She believes customers are purchasing her product due to its quality, not simply because of her personal brand. ‘It’s the product itself that’s driving sales,’ she explained.
