Comedian Joel Creasey is showing off a noticeably fitter physique as he prepares to host a new lunchtime radio program on Nova FM.
The 35-year-old Australian comedian revealed a surprisingly muscular physique in this week’s Stellar magazine, confidently showing off his toned arms and new build.
He’s shed his youthful appearance, now sporting a full beard and a more intense look. This transformation reflects his increased maturity and self-assurance as he begins his new job.
Despite everything, Joel kept his playful smile and gave listeners a preview of his new radio show.
Joel joked that Nova’s management, whom he described as charming and charismatic, seem to have decided to take a risk and embrace the current unpredictable climate in radio and the world.
‘Let’s just see how much damage you can really do. Let’s just pour some more fuel on the fire.’
The experienced presenter, who used to co-host Nova’s breakfast show with Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell, shared that he’s both excited and a little anxious about starting his own show.
When this opportunity arose, I decided it was time to handle it on my own. I’m also flexible with my schedule. Honestly, I doubt anyone would actually give me a breakfast radio show, though.
He added that he was confident his show would be a success – but had a back-up plan if it wasn’t.
He admitted he used to deflect blame onto others, but now realizes he doesn’t have anyone to blame. He jokingly said he’ll find someone new to blame anyway, recalling advice from Gretel Killeen: ‘If something goes wrong, just blame anyone – no one will know if you’re being truthful.’
The Joel Creasey Show is a weekday program that launches on Nova on Monday, April 20 at 1pm.
Joel announced he was leaving his radio job in January, after it was confirmed he wouldn’t be part of the new breakfast show with Ricki-Lee Coulter and Tim Blackwell.
Nova has made a significant change to its breakfast show, replacing popular hosts Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie with Ricki-Lee and Tim.
Viewers of the show Drive were puzzled when comedian Joel wasn’t mentioned in the announcement of the team, even though he’s considered a key member – the third one, in fact.
He announced on the Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel show that he’s staying with Nova, as he’s been given his own show across the country.
‘Very much inspired by the heavenly Chrissie Swan, I’m going solo,’ he told listeners.
‘What were they thinking! You’ll be able to hear The Joel Creasey Show nationally at lunchtimes.’
He joked that it seemed like their boss believed things were already going badly, so he was determined to make them even worse, just to see what would happen.
Tim jokingly told Joel, ‘It’s funny, your lunchtime is basically like morning radio for you—we’re all having to wake up earlier now!’
‘You’ve got your own version of breakfast!’ Ricki-Lee added.
‘I really do! That is my breakfast,’ Joel responded.
This announcement follows the news that Fitzy & Wippa, along with Kate Ritchie, are moving from their breakfast radio show to host a national drive-time program instead.
Ryan Fitzgerald, Michael Wipfli, and Kate Ritchie shared the news back in January.
