Patricia Arquette Gets Real About Online Dating After Split: ‘I’m Single and Scared!’

Patricia Arquette admitted to seeking romance on the internet following the private termination of her long-standing relationship with Eric White.

On a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, the actress, aged 56, openly disclosed her current singleness and shared that she has turned to dating apps for potential connections.

When Clarkson inquired about her feelings towards encountering her match suggestions, the Academy Award recipient, who has been married to both Nicolas Cage and Thomas Jane in the past, clarified that the application she employs performs a type of background check on potential users.

Even though she acknowledged feeling apprehensive about online dating, she occasionally injected humor by suggesting that Wikipedia had complicated her pursuit of her next romantic connection.

In my recent conversation with the show’s host, I shared an interesting tidbit about my personal life – it appears my Wikipedia page is still indicating that I was in a long-term relationship with White, whom I dated from 2014 until 2023. However, as we all know, life moves on, and so have I!

She mentioned that one issue she faces with online dating is similar to having the same partner as on Wikipedia: “I’ve had the same boyfriend for a few years now, and I’ve actually been single for the past two years!

Matthew McConaughey, known for his role in Boyhood, pondered that certain suitors may have perceived him as merely going about town because he hadn’t made a public announcement about his separation from Camila Alves-White.

Upon learning that Arquette is seeking companionship, Clarkson addressed the cameras, saying: “Now it’s time to spread the news. She’s currently available and ready for socializing!

‘How is it on the apps?’ Clarkson asked. ‘Cause I’m single and I’m afraid.’ 

Arquette described her method as moving at a snail’s pace and additionally verifying information with those familiar with the individual, all while proceeding gradually.

The artist mentioned that she’s fine chatting for half a year before meeting anyone for coffee.

‘I believe in going very slow!’ Arquette insisted. 

In the year 2022, Arquette praised her boyfriend Eric, expressing that they spend a great deal of time laughing and playing together.

The couple was first photographed together in 2014 while she was promoting her film Boyhood. 

Over time, Arquette hasn’t hesitated to discuss, openly, both her successful and unsuccessful romantic encounters.

2021 saw her participating in a widely followed Twitter trend about disappointing dates, where she disclosed that the person she went out with eventually turned out to be a notorious murderer some time afterwards.

At first, the star recounted a seemingly ordinary disappointing date with someone introduced as a professional skateboarder, who unfortunately proved to be an unskilled kisser.

However, it transpired that her unfortunate second date involved ex-skateboarding pro Mark ‘Gator’ Rogowski. Later on, he admitted to the horrific crime of raping and murdering his acquaintance Jessica Bergsten in 1991, when she was just 22 years old.

In response to the question, “What’s the most uncomfortable date you’ve ever been on?”, Patricia disclosed a truly terrifying experience she had.

She indicated that it was their ‘next outing’ or ‘follow-up meet-up’, noting, ‘Expert skateboarder. Quite endearing. Acquainted with my circle of friends.’

She said, “He kissed me, but there was something strange about it that gave me unease.” At the end of the date, she provided him with a false phone number instead.

‘Years later he killed his girlfriend,’ she concluded starkly.

In a subsequent tweet, she emphasized the lesson from the story: ‘Follow your gut feelings.’ Interestingly enough, her daughter believes me to be overly cautious.

Of course, others found herself intriguing due to her chilling tale and eagerly asked for additional insights. One individual even speculated that the story might be linked to Rogowski.

Arquette agreed,” she said. “He not only assaulted, but also took her life. The victim was a close friend of both his current and ex girlfriends.”

Or simply:

“Arquette confirmed the incident,” she stated. “It involved violent acts against his intimate partner, who was dearly loved by both his current and former partners.

One user suggested that the influence of religion on Rogowski had led to his confession.

In another words, she said, “It seems to me that the problem wouldn’t have been resolved without religion. However, his ultimate confession was not to the priest but to a devoutly religious friend who had converted to Christianity.

Another person mentioned having a similarly bad experience with a scarily aggressive kisser.

Arquette replied: “Another man did the same thing once, forcefully kissing me and causing me to choke. I warned him never to do anything like that to a woman again.

Later on, the same individual asked her to explain the manner in which Rogowski had kissed her, before causing her discomfort. She characterized it as an aggressive kiss.

‘Like pushing me back hard with his jaw and it felt like it was angry,’ she clarified.

At the moment, Rogowski is incarcerated under a 31-year to life imprisonment term, which he received due to the rape and murder of Jessica Bergsten that occurred back in 1991.

Rogowski is now serving a sentence of 31 years to life behind bars because of his crimes against Jessica Bergsten, which included raping and killing her in 1991.

Despite rumors suggesting otherwise by Arquette, Bergsten and Brandi McClain were friends, but it’s not believed they were romantically involved.

During the 1980s, Rogowski was well-known for his skillful skateboarding, but as the 1990s approached, his career took a downturn because of his growing struggle with alcohol and the decline in the commercial viability of skateboarding.

Following the termination of his relationship, the athlete started harassing McClain (the woman he had abused during their time together) as well as her new partner. He went so far as to break into her house while she was absent.

1991 saw McClain’s friend Bergsten requesting Rogowski for a guided tour around San Diego. Following this, Bergsten mysteriously vanished and was subsequently reported missing.

Later, the skater admitted that he struck Bergsten at the back of her head using a metal steering wheel lock from a car and subsequently bound her to his bed prior to committing sexual assault against her.

He mentioned that he muffled her mouth, concerned that the neighbors might overhear her and she wouldn’t breathe anymore.

Later on, he concealed her decomposed remains in the barren desert, making identification difficult at first due to its advanced stage of decay.

After my heartfelt conversation with a devoted Christian companion, I felt compelled to acknowledge my wrongdoings. Guided by their wise counsel, I chose to reveal the truth to the authorities, and that’s exactly what I did.

Originally, the individual who was found guilty of murder had been charged with both killing Bergsten and raping her simultaneously, carrying the possibility of capital punishment. However, in the end, he was separately convicted for both murder and rape offenses.

He was sentenced to life in prison with the chance of parole after 31 years.
