Back In Action: Critics Slam Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx’s Comeback, But Fans Love It!

As a devoted film enthusiast, I recently watched Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx’s “Back in Action” that debuted on Netflix a few days back. It seems that opinions about this movie vary widely among critics and viewers alike.

The movie, marking Diaz’s return to acting following a ten-year hiatus, has garnered a 23% Tomatometer rating on the review aggregator platform Rotten Tomatoes, based on 57 reviews from critics.

It appears that viewers have a somewhat negative reaction towards the movie, given that it scored 63% on the Popcornmeter based on over 500 ratings.

Renowned Chicago Sun-Times critic Richard Roeper harshly criticized the movie, awarding it 2.5 out of four stars, stating: ‘Back In Action adheres to a troubling pattern, as each action-packed conflict is punctuated by the use of a well-known classic tune.’

From my perspective, I’m just one of the countless enthusiasts, going by the name Akaycia A, and I can’t help but sing praises for that film. To those who’ve criticized it, I must ask, ‘What is it about this masterpiece that stirs up such negativity?’ In my opinion, the movie was nothing short of exceptional.

‘Not earth-shattering changes, but the character conversations were delightful, and it was truly exciting to witness Cameron Diaz’s return to my television.’

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must admit that their chemistry was undeniably captivating, Jamie and her. Here’s hoping they’ll bring us a sequel! Frankly, it’s a production I can envision myself revisiting multiple times – it’s that good. Kudos to the team behind this masterpiece!

The film stars Cameron and Jamie alongside an all-star cast including  77-year-old Glenn Close.

Back in 2014, I, a die-hard fan, was absolutely thrilled when Cameron graced our screens as Annie. But then, much to my surprise, she decided to pause her acting career to dedicate time to her loved ones and entrepreneurial pursuits.

On the chilly day of January 17th, a Netflix movie dropped that had me hooked from the opening scene! It’s all about Emily (Cameron) and Matt (Jamie), once high-flying CIA agents, now yearning for tranquility, family, and an ordinary life. Can you believe it? Former action heroes, swapping covert missions for diapers and playdates!

But, their lives take an unexpected turn when their identities are exposed, causing them to engage in battles and flee in order to safeguard the ones dearest to them.

This fresh action-comedy, helmed by director Seth Gordon at the age of 48, marks a return to the spotlight for both Jamie and Cameron. Regrettably, Jamie experienced a stroke in 2023, while Cameron took a break from acting due to family commitments as early as 2014.

Earlier, Cameron stated that she went back to acting primarily because she wanted to collaborate with Jamie once more, since their last projects were Any Given Sunday and Annie.

In her own words: ‘I believed that if I were to return for another film project, it could only be with him (Foxx) as my co-star.’

Indeed, there were other options presented to me at various points, but I consistently declined, asserting repeatedly that I wasn’t interested… Wait, who’s Jamie? Oh, it seems I’ve agreed to work on a movie with him!

Additionally featuring Kyle Chandler, Glenn, Andrew Scott, two Jamie Demetrious, and Rylan Jackson in the movie’s cast.

2018 saw Cameron’s official retirement from her thriving Hollywood career; however, her dear friend Jamie managed to entice her for a comeback, casting her as his co-star in an action comedy.

However, her return venture took an unexpected turn in 2023 as reports emerged about a dramatic outburst by Jamie on the British film set, resulting in the termination of three crew members.

In March 2023, it was disclosed by a trusted insider that Cameron, although holding no grudges against Jamie, is expected to step away from filmmaking after this project due to her struggles with being separated from her family and her distaste for the frequent ‘tensions and conflicts’ that arise on film sets.

According to our source, they mentioned that these consecutive 10-hour workdays have been quite challenging for her, and she strongly dislikes being separated from Raddix.

They added: ‘Cameron loves being a mom more than anything in the world.’

‘She hates drama and confrontation. This is why she retired from the business in the first place,’

‘She has already proven herself in the industry and has nothing left to prove to anyone.’

2018 saw Cameron part ways with Hollywood, opting instead for a focus on spending quality time with her musician spouse, Benji Madden, at age 45.

Ever since my precious little one joined our family in the chilly month of December 2019, I’ve been nothing but a guarded and private parent. My partner and I have cherished every moment with our three-year-old wonder, keeping our lives as parents under wraps to protect our sweet bundle of joy from the glaring eyes of the world.
