Artist The Weeknd generously contributed a massive $1 million towards Los Angeles fire relief efforts, following the cancellation of his concert and postponement of his album launch due to the destruction caused by the fires.
34-year-old musician behind “Blinding Lights” anthem plans to contribute funds to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, GoFundMe’s Wildfire Relief initiative, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
The donation is being made together with the World Food Program USA and the singer’s XO Humanitarian Fund, aiming to assist frontline workers and countless individuals who have either lost their homes or been forced to evacuate.
This week, the performer postponed his concert scheduled for January 25th at the Rose Bowl and pushed back the launch of his album ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, which was initially set for next week.

Mason and Hurt stated that further contributions amounting to an extra $2 million were raised to aid industry professionals who had been significantly affected by recent events over the past week in Southern California.
Mason and Hurt reaffirmed their unwavering dedication to offering continuous support. They emphasized that their institutions were established with a purpose: to aid music enthusiasts since music has an incredible ability to create positivity worldwide. They called on the wider industry to join them in supporting this noble cause.
Taylor Swift has additionally contributed to the Los Angeles fire relief effort, disclosing that she’s made donations to 211 LA, the California Community Foundation Fund, Direct Relief, the Greater Los Angeles Education Foundation, and other organizations.
14-time Grammy award recipient additionally acknowledged Habitat For Humanity of Greater Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Los Angeles Unified School District Education Foundation Emergency Relief Fund, MusiCares, and the Pasadena Educational Foundation Eaton Fire Response Fund.
In simpler terms, the continuous forest fires have burned down more than 12,000 buildings and caused a decline in the air quality across the extensive area, which negatively impacts people’s wellbeing.
The winds that were fanning the flames have subsided, and the Palisades fire is now 35% under control. The Eaton fire is currently at a 65% containment level.
The death toll is currently listed at 27 according to CBS.
Some notable figures, including Mel Gibson, Paris Hilton, Anthony Hopkins, Tina Knowles, John Goodman, Candy Spelling, and Miles Teller, have had their homes damaged or demolished.
