Joshua Jackson breaks his silence after his $2M family home burned down in LA fires
After the destructive Los Angeles wildfires reduced his $2 million Topanga Canyon home to ashes, Joshua Jackson finally spoke up about the incident.
A day following the ruins of his multiple-storied home being captured in photographs due to the ash and debris, he reassured his followers that him and his family were safe and well, even though they had been forced to relocate.
To clarify firstly and crucially, everyone near and dear to me who was impacted by the fire is safe, as the 46-year-old actor communicated through a statement that his representative shared with Deadline.
‘My daughter, my family, my neighbors all made it out safely,’ he shared.
Later on, he verified that the devastating Palisades Fire, which broke out in southern California on Tuesday, had destroyed his childhood home, a property he bought back in 2001.
Alongside several other renowned figures, Jackson has become one of those unfortunate individuals who’ve had to evacuate their homes due to the destructive fires that have claimed at least 16 lives.
The Dawson’s Creek actor sadly announced that his beloved home was destroyed by the fires. However, today he feels uncommonly fortunate to be amidst the people he cherishes.
On Saturday, photographs from DailyMail.com depicted the remains of what once was Jackson’s house, now reduced to ashes and debris.
After the fire had destroyed the house, parts of the backyard and swimming pool remained untouched. However, the hills that used to be around it were now barren and devoid of vegetation.
At that very house, Doctor Odyssey had lived during his early childhood years, prior to returning to Canada when he was eight, following his parents’ divorce.
For approximately two decades, he owned the property and lived there together with his four-year-old daughter, Juno Rose Diana, whom he co-parents with his former wife, Jodie-Turner Smith.
In 2021, I found myself reminiscing about my childhood home, and in an emotional twist of fate, I decided to buy it back – a heartwarming full-circle moment for me.
He shared with Mr. Porter in July 2021 that his father regrettably wasn’t a good husband or father, and he is no longer present.
He added: ‘However, the house in Topanga is where I found things to be straightforward, making it incredibly beneficial and therapeutic for me.’
Additionally, he shared that once his daughter, Juno, was born to him and his ex-spouse Turner-Smith, her nursery was set up in what used to be his childhood bedroom.
He mentioned that a dragon mural had been preserved on the wall of the room for all these years, which left him amazed,” he explained.
The former owner mentioned, “I understood it held great significance for someone and they would return for it one day,” he continued.
Besides Jackson, several high-profile residents from the star-studded neighborhood of Pacific Palisades have unfortunately seen their homes go up in flames due to the ongoing wildfires. These fires have already razed numerous buildings and scorched more than 22,000 acres across Los Angeles and its neighboring regions.
Notable celebrities such as Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, along with Paris Hilton, Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, and Anna Faris are among those who have unfortunately had their homes destroyed by the wildfires.
Multiple fires have ignited across the Pacific Palisades, Eaton Canyon, Malibu, the Hollywood Hills, and various spots in the wider Los Angeles region due to ‘dangerous and devastating’ windstorms which began on Tuesday.
